Early in the production year, Buick's Experimental Engineering Dept. built four Buick Roadmaster pickup trucks. One was painted red and used by the Buick Fire Dept., while the other three were painted black and used by the maintenance Dept. within the 2.5 mile long Buick facility for parts and supply distribution. In the mid - 1940's, these trucks were designated to be scrapped by order of Buick personnel. A Mr. John Nyland who was head of the Buick Experimental Engineering Group, rescued this truck and it was transported to his hunting camp in northern Michigan. It was discovered in a sawmill in Michigan some thirty years later in which the final restoration project was complete in 2013. This pickup truck started life as a Roadmaster Coupe, model 765 with a body style #4427C and Fisher Body # 620. Definitely, this Buick pickup truck, being one of four manufactured and now the only example still in existence makes this a valuable footnote in American automotive history. Thanks very much for viewing.
