Either fairly, or unfairly, I always thought of Bert as a carnival huckster. He shilled for the Miss America pagent - "OH, THERE SHE IS, MISS AMERICA" (his sugary sweet theme song could cause INSTANT DIABETES.)

The last time I saw Bert, he was portraying a so-called carricature of his own personna. He was in the Matthew Broderick & Marlon Brando film "The Freshman." Bert Parks played Bert Parks, and was hired by Brando's character (a shady underworld type of character, with a heart of gold) to sing the introduction of the "Meal Of The Evening", which was a Komodo dragon. His song was a take-off of the Miss American theme.

The closer the animal was to being extinct, the higer the price for the exclusive meal. In reality, in was a con job. The meal was not the Komodo dragon, it was chicken, and Bert Parks sang the introductory song to start the con job rolling along.
