1991 Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser Station Wagon

Uh oh. It's another wagon, and this time around, a fairly rare one compared to the Roadmaster and Caprice variants. I saw this when taking the big blue whale to have its oil changed, and went back to check it out today.

It's been sitting for a long time and looks kind of sad. I shouldn't buy another, nor am I sure if I could stand to do so. Still, this does need to find a better home and I do plan to call the number on the sign...no harm in asking, right?

What's the difference between this car and the others? This car was positioned somewhere between the Buick Roadmaster and Chevrolet Caprice models. As such, it includes a few more toys, doodads and options that weren't available with the Caprice. There is also a tachometer in the instrument panel alongside the speedometer. Note the unique glass panel in the roof--this was an option unique to the Oldsmobile model. I also noticed that all of the seating surfaces in this car were made of cloth, unlike the Caprice where the third collapsible seat is covered with vinyl.

Later research revealed this to be a 1991 model with the L03 305 V8 engine, 4L60 transmission, 2.73 rear end gearing and automatic "level ride" air shock/suspension system. It is identical in color to the Caprice I have now and was assembled in the Willow Run Assembly facility, same as the Caprice.
