Bringing the chassis home! C4 roller, no motor or trans, but it had a title!
Fitting the YJ cowl to the C4 chassis. The vette was several inches wider, so I had to shave the front door pillars so it would fit.
Rides very rough up front, all the fiberglass it used to have to carry is gone. I pulled out the fiberglass transverse mono leaf spring and cut a slot down the middle of it between the clamps in an experiment to see if I can lighten up the rate for $0. If it fails, we move on to motorcycle mono shocks as cheap coil overs.
Bought this chassis intending to use the parts on another build, but then decided to just put a motor in it and make a Roadkill-style kart. Project creep then took over!

Holy cow! Never seen someone put something like this together. Like a ratrod and a jeep had a baby. Dig it!

So now it has a 5.3 in it out of a 2005 Silverado that had 189,000 miles on it when pulled. I had put too much boost to the 2001 6.0 I had in it with the original weak 3rd Gen rods, and broke the #7 rod which then took out the #8, and both of them punched out their sides of the block. The pistons showed no detonation, so it was simply too much pressure and torque for the rods to handle. The new 5.3 was pristine on the inside, clean with bearings that looked brand new. It too is a 3rd Gen/24X motor as that is the engine management I use, but surprise surprise! When I opened it I found 4th Gen rods! They were a running change during that time period, and are said to be good for 200hp more than the 3rd Gens. Since then I've been out driving it to work, and last weekend I drove about 500 miles in it, up to LaCrosse WI for the Mississippi Mayhem hot rod show, absolutely no issues! Now to lighten up the suspension a bit. I replaced the stock front leaf spring with coilovers repurposed from a 97-05 Honda Firehawk motorcycle, and its much better, but the rear is a bit stiff when the road gets bumpy.
