Added a custom short throw shifter made by my friend Damien over at @nickwislonracing
Here is the result added onto the shift tower. the throws are noticeably shorter and with the poly upgrades on the shift cable ends the gears feel really crisp
More upclose look at the shifter. This was also the original issue on this car when I got it from my sister; The shift weight seen here had stripped its splines due to a sloppy mistake from her mechanic so it wouldnt go into any gear. A new shift weight solved that and then this short version made it even better
I live for the back roads, nice thing about not having it too low or too modified
Everything around me with this car is green
My twice a year headlight polishing session. It really improves the look of the car and the light output as well. I would love to get the bi-xenon upgrades for this car but at $250 a light plus harness... Ill keep my silverstars in stock housings for now
Put in a European market switch and disabled the DRL's. Now I have the ability for front and rear fogs, auto on (once I get the sensor) and then normal headlight functions. Ill be doing a DIY on adding the rear fog and making it operate in the near future
Purchased legit Euro market rear tail lights off my friends at @projecteuro! Rear fog on the driverside to be LHD compliant, amber turn signals and much nicer than my old cracked ones. They even helped me re-program the car with VAGcom to get the rear fog working in the coding (just gotta add a few wires) and helped me get the amber turn signals working as that is a bit of a pain in the NA market cars
Rear fog in red on the left, Turn signals in the middle of the brake lights and increased intensity on the reverse light. best mod on this car to date
Made a spare LHD rear fog inner just in case mine ever gets damaged
I also got this wonderful piece off of @projecteuro! An OEM MK5 woodgrain steering wheel with all the multifunction buttons. I need to get the right radio and module to get the buttons to work but its nice to know I have that option if I want to go that route AND the wood both looks and feels wonderful, I just need the matching shift knob now
Added some footwell LED's because I saw some in a GTI and wanted that look. They can change colour but I think the red looks fantastic with all the other red LED lights in the dash
Version 1 of my cold air intake for the 2.5. Its more of a warm air intake really but it works. The engine cover is off a 2.5L New Beetle and deletes the stock air box from the Rabbit/Golf so I had to make this cold air more out of necessity rather than want. After a week of this set up I changed it to a larger cone filter as this little guy was awesome looks wise but would fall off time to time and caused a MAF code
Rewiring the aftermarket stereo back to OEM harness so that I can throw an OEM ApplePlay unit in when I have the funds for it. While I was in here I also fixed some issues with my centre vents and added an iPod charging cord to the back of the unit that comes up through the upper cubby. I had a wireless charger glued to the upper cubby for some time but because I can't display my phone on the Pioneer screen it was useless so I removed it until a later time
This was the result of me trying to figure out how to get the stock air box to work with the New Beetle engine cover
The devil is always in the details. I swapped out the Rabbit ASR button on the right with a Jetta one on the left. The only difference is the Rabbit shows on the dash when the ASR is off whereas the Jetta one shows it on the button. Now I have the best of both worlds!
I bought a CB radio for the Rabbit as it is my highway star and who doesnt want to listen to truckers? Removed the coin tray/12V area to be hollowed out and reinstalled around the radio and then hard mounted the radio to the dash. Ran all the cables as hidden as possible from the roof antenna and the power source as well as added a 4-Connection 12V power source in the cubby for extra accessories and the foot lights. The system works flawlessly and I really enjoy it on the highway
I still have to add the holder for the mic but this is where I'm thinking of placing it as I have that vent blocked by my phone usually anyways and its within arms reach
This was the test location for my Lil Wil antenna. I ended up putting it ahead of the sunroof just so I could keep my sunroof usable while still running the wires tight and hidden. It doesnt cause much extra noise and gets great reception for its size in that location
Had a brake calliper seize and after a few run arounds with my local parts store I ended up upgrading from the stock 9" rear brakes and callipers to GTI 10.1" solid rears. Not a huge difference but gives me massive piece of mind
New to me GTI callipers and fresh rotors! Very nice
Slapped on some early low-spec textures rub strips on the front, I really like the look
I sticker bomb the underside of the hood because Im an adult hahaha. You can see the updated AEM filter in this shot
Taking home another project in the project is the only way to fly
You can fit a whole Honda motor scooter inside a MK5 Rabbit
I bought this car for my sister when her MK4 bit the dust in anticipation that it would be mine when she outgrew it. Lucky for me that wish came true! Now I have a nice daily cruiser that I throw mods at here and there cause I cant keep well enough alone

Nice Mk5, I used to have a GTI this gen. I've never seen a wood steering wheel for this car, would look nice with the matching shift knob.
