Rain tray delete and strut towers up 1.5"

3-7-2007

Sweet sugar. I bet you guys thought this project was dead.

Stripped the inner fenders of factory rock guard.

This took a long time and I'm not looking forward to it on my future projects. At least they are ready for sand blasting and POR 15 now. YAY!

Also took some time out to build this.

Now I can use my blasting cabinet without blowing glass beads all over the place.

More soon!

I used a propane torch, a metal scraper and a wire wheel on my drill. It was a pain but it did work well.

I went to black because I had the dash from my old Jetta but I do like it better anyway.

So today I filled up the heater hose holes in the firewall and removed a few more clips I won't be using. I used sheet metal from the rain tray so It's still original steel on the car.

Also did some final touch up work on removing the undercoating in the fender wells.

Removed the doors/rain gutter trim and rear window.

Finally went to work on the one rusty area at the back of the driver's side wheel well.

Removed three layers of rotted steel and now must copy the pieces.

Should be fun. More tomorrow hopefully.
