Speaking of the Hydra, check out these screen shots! Look how easy it is to program the outputs. There's so many options its crazy!
Using this setting, I have my Eboost2 automatically switch boost maps when the car is filled with E85:
Instead of three relays, a timing circuit, sensors and countless wires, this output runs the fuel pump duty on an as needed basis with only a single wire:
Here's a totally crazy example of the logic you can create. Thus far, I haven't found a value that the Hydra reads from sensor input or calculates after the fact that isn't available:
Check out the number of variables listed in relation to port air temp:

As a few of you may have caught, I did in fact take the car to Phil on Tuesday to get the Hydra 2.7 "pre-tuned". It was somewhat of a nightmare experience because the daily low has been around 16F and there's around 2ft of snow at my house. Since I am running max dry tires and have race coolant (not anti-freeze) in the engine, things were a little crazy.
We were able to get the car down my somewhat steep driveway and onto the trailer the night before without an issue. I left the car outside overnight with a block heater going with the hope that it would significantly warm up the next day like the weather man said it would. Unfortunately, it was 19F at 6AM and there was no way that i was going to chance hauling a car with race coolant in 19F weather. I drained about a gallon of coolant form the system and drove to get some anti-freeze.
We arrived at Element a few hours later and Phil had the car running nearly instantly. We drove around for about two hours dealing with any driveability issues and getting all the basics setup. The car runs very well and its AMAZINGLY RESPONSIVE!!! There's zero comparison to how it ran this past summer which if you recall was VERY laggy. I couldn't be happier!
The trip back was uneventful but when we got to my house we ran into a lot of trouble. It took 30 minutes to get the car up my 25ft driveway due to ice. It also took us over an hour to park the trailer because the truck just kept slipping sideways every time we tried to back up. We ended up using chains and a small come along to drag the trailer back into its spot. In the end I was frozen and tired but at least the car worked!
Here's my car on my trailer sitting a bit down the street from my house. My road isn't flat so we always have an interesting time loading.

Just a quick update here. I have been so busy with work that I haven't had time for the car. I pulled the motor out today and plan on taking it to Phil within the next several days.

The motor is loaded into my Forester and ready to go down to Element Tomorrow. Hopefully Phil will have it done and back to me quickly.

I dropped the motor off at Element as planned today and arrived home at 5PM. In other news, my wife got me an awesome present today:

I got word form Element Tuning yesterday that my motor had been torn down, re-blueprinted and found to be "perfect in all regards". They are applying their closed deck / block reenforcement treatment and and prepping it for pickup here in the next couple of weeks.
I also had to send my Ohlins Flag dampers to PSI for some R&R. By the book they are to be rebuilt "every season" but with my extremely limited use I have extended this to once about every three or four years. They started to make some strange noise during my tune in January so I sent them in. Now we wait to see what comes back first.

Thanks to the fantastic people at Performance Shock Inc (PSI), my Ohlins flags have been rebuilt and are scheduled for delivery on Friday of this week. If you guys need suspension work done, give PSI a call! - http://performanceshock.com/
Still no word on when the motor will be done though.

I just got word from Phil that my motor is all done up and ready for pickup. I am on schedule to pick up the motor on Wednesday and with a bit of luck it should be installed the following weekend!

Thanks guys!
I spent a few hours today putting the suspension back together and getting everything adjusted. My motor arrives on Wednesday and with a little luck, I will have the car running next weekend!
Its starting to feel that way. This has honestly been the perfect storm of crap that has been TOTALLY out of my control. Lets see if I can re-count all the issues thus far:
Non-functional Turbo Kit
Turbo Failure (bad kit instructions)
2nd Turbo Failure (Still hadn't found the issue)
Failed fuel injector
Second failed fuel injector
Failed Block (it broke as soon as everything else worked)
Third and fourth failed fuel injectors
Realization that there was a defect in the block and that I would loose another motor if I pushed it
After the bad block thing came to light, things have actually been going well. Other than tuning issues, the car ran well for the second half of 2012 and ran flawlessly after I put the new Hydra 2.7 in. This most recent round with the motor was a preventative thing and the suspension was long overdue maintenance since it was supposed to get rebuilt over a year ago.

Its back....

I have family staying at my house this weekend so I wont be able to get much done BUT, I did manage to get the motor nearly 100% assembled. I will work on the car sporadically (in 20-30min shifts) this week and with a little luck, finish by weekend end. I really want to be driving the car VERY soon as Phil wants 1000 miles on the motor before we finish tuning it.
Nice!
