I mocked up my boost control lines, everything should be pretty short. I am also using 100% brass hardware this time because I am looking for long term reliability.
This one was truly a God moment. I dropped the motor in all by my self (no help at all) and got it in the very first shot. Under 3 minutes from stand to engine bay!!!

The boost control system is done.
The job is about 80% done at this point but I have hit a few snags.
Here's snag number one. The high speed valve in my meth kit is in bad shape so I just ordered a replacement.
I mentioned in the post above that there were two snags. Snag number two is related to the fuel system. I am just not happy with how the fuel return lines are routed on the motor. If you look at old picts from mid 2011 you will see a fuel line running on top of the intake manifold and going to the pressure regulator. That line gets pinched near the alternator and it started to wear a pretty good mark in the side of the line. I haven't totally decided what I am going to do but I think I am going to buy new custom made lines with pressed on ends. I was about to buy lines from Pegasus Auto Racing but if you click the link you will see that the hoses would be between $75 and $100 EACH. Since I need five hoses thats pretty nuts. I am going to keep looking for a solution.

Here are a few shots of my turbo fresh back from a rebuild. It was damn near destroyed when the motor blew but now its good as new. I threw my smashed piston next to it for a size reference. It looks so huge!
I made up a test hose to see how it would look and its fantastic! I wish I could get the boost control system apart but I just tried and I would have to cut everything.
I have had a ton of stuff going on so I haven't had much time to work on the car since New Years. I did however have a few hours this week to rework my under-hood meth setup. I wouldn't call my original setup (since 2008) "ghetto" but it was close. For reference, here's what the meth kit looked like when I installed it in 2008:
Here's a close-up from early 2010 (note the wastegate solenoid from the Evo style FP Red turbo in the shot):
Thankfully, I am beyond all that now. Since I had to replace the HSV due to corrosion on the electrical terminals I decided to upgrade to the very latest version which is much better. I also made a really nice bracket out of aluminum to keep things neatly tucked down under the FMIC pipes. I am really pleased with how it came out:
Nice!
