No progress/updates really, for the holidays the girlfriend got this add on for my alarm.... I was pretty excited.

Got my Viper SmartStart VSM200 module set up last night. Very neat.

Well I've had the Viper 5902 alarm/remote start for a while now. The range is pretty long with just the remote it self.

Just now I added the Viper VSM200 module which is the add-on SmartStart module. You can in fact open it/start it from ANYWHERE. There is a 15-30 second wait for it to complete the operation since it is going over cell phone towers. If a sensor is triggered it will send you a text message.

Autopage also has a very nice system out. Given the complexity of doing an alarm on the Porsche we went with a DEI product (Viper) since my friend that installed it is only used to working with DEI products.

When you use your phone it doesnt matter where you are it, still goes over cell towers. It takes 15-30 seconds to compelete a command using a phone. I still use the Viper key fob to lock and unlock the car.

The fact that you get a text when the car is messed with is useful. If you are driving to your house/garage and want to warm up the car by the time you get there you can use the smartstart from the phone, or if you just want to do it from inside of your home - its more convenient since most people always have their phones on them now-a-days.
