Thanks mate - I am delighted with how it is coming together.
Odds and sods - want to have matching seats, wouldnt mind some nice classic sports ones, but they would cost a fortune to ship from UK to New Zealand.
- still have a leek in front windscreen, seems to be between the body and rubber.
- Speedo cable to sort out
At some stage there is the bigger job of putting in either a 1275 or 970s motor with my SCCR box etc.
The sump guard looks cool - it is from Minispares. I was going to make one, but am glad I bought this one. It came pre drilled to fit holes on front of subrame, the rear holes didnt line up on the underside of subframe, so I a made extra holes on the sumpguard. Also.. If it was bolted straight up it would have hit the bottom of the engine, so I put bolts through subrame and nuts on the other side- so that the bolts extended through sumpguard, and you just had to put a nut on the end, it also made it easier as you didnt have to try and hold a spanner on the bolt when the guard is on to try and tighten it up.

A little bit of work today,
- Change the Oil and Filter
- Installed a front towing eye (need to have one when circuit racing)
- Cleaned up and painted a Mk1 Rear Number Plate bracket and installed

Yes - there are a couple of things on the list of 'to dos':
- Reverse Spot Lamp
- 4 front spotlights
- get stuck into overhauling the 970s motor
oh... I just realised why you asked - in New Zealand we do not have to have fog lamps.
Tyres - pretty scarce in New Zealand, so have Sime Astar 175 13s.

The Mk1 look certainly is great, I am pleased I went this way.
Thinking of a couple of other Mk1 things at the moment:
- Mk1 door hinges (Minispares do alloy ones - may leave them in metal finish or painted have not decided)
- Sliding perspex windows (need to get the weight down to have the mk1 hinges anyway)
- Riley Elf door pockets painted in orange like the body

Trying to decide what to do to be honest. Options are:
- Rebuild my 970 Cooper S motor
- Fit standard 1275
- Modified 1275
- 1380
- one of above with 7 port head
