we'll start the final build tomorrow after my last exam so there should hopefully be lots of nice shiny photos for you all :D

hi all, i didn't get time to update yesterday so here goes. yesterday i finished my last exam so i decided to treat myself to a night bolting on nice new shiny parts :proud: we fitted the front bumper, number plate, indicators, side repeaters, head lamps and bonnet badge

Posted Image

and wired everything up and got them all working with new bulbs

Posted Image

i'm going to have a few more hours an it tonight so expect another update later on

hi all, small update from tonight. fitted the wiper plinths, aerial and adjusted the bonnet - the fit is still really good :proud: we also spent ages tidying up the wiring loom in the engine bay and cutting out and replacing worn out bullet connectors with heat shrink connectors...we really want the mini to be as reliable as possible ;D

just about my favourite picture so far :w00t:

it would be impressive if you could do all that in a day...it would be like something off of custom my ride  cheers bud, my original grill is an external release 11 slat grill but i wanted the sleek look and brought an 11 slat internal release cheap at a show last year...i need to straighten a few twists in the slats out and give it a good clean before i put it on the car. i also need to buy two new grill ends, clean my bonnet trim up and transfer my St. Christopher across to the new grill. i'm doing that either tomorrow or Sunday and then i'll put it on to finish the front end :gimme:

hi all, we had a good day of work today.

we fitted the door mirrors, chrome window seals, door handles, door and window seals, check straps and rubbers, door catches and locking mechanisms...i'm really pleased with the final door gaps :proud:

we then fitted the boot seal, rear lights, rear bumper, boot handle, fuel tank filler neck seal and number plate light. we also refitted my boot light and ran a length of wire from the isolator to my radio housing (with an in-line fuse) so the radio will have a constant power feed so it keeps the right time and it's memory

and we fitted the chrome bonnet trim, the plastic seal strip snapped whilst i was cleaning it so we instead used a piece of clear plastic pipe and cut a slit down it to go in place of the seal...it does the job better than the old seal and actually looks better up close :D

that's it for today folks...tomorrow i will repair, clean and refit my new grill and St. Christopher badge; clean out the boot and wrap my boot board in some of my old carpet; refit the parcel shelf mat, rear speakers and C post covers; and then maybe give the dash board a final clean as it got a bit messy whilst i was flatting down the car ready for paint >_<

comments welcome as always

lol, if my dad wasn't playing golf tomorrow we would probably get very close to finishing but as it is just me tomorrow, there won't be as quick as progress :( but we need to respray some parts of the body work that will be exposed inside side the car first before we can fit the interior so that will take at least a day to dry. it's going to be nice weather monday so we'll do that after i get back from sixth form :proud: so i recon he'll be all finished next week end :gimme:

my dad's mate (same bloke we borrowed the truck off of) can start MOTing vehicles the first of August so i have roughly a month and a half in which i'd like to pass my driving test so i can start driving Cliff ASAP but that's a bit optimistic >_< lol

cheers bud

hi all, been in the garage this morning trying to create one good grill out of my old rusty grille and my second hand show brought grille

first i drilled out the rivets on the bottom two slats on both grilles, i also removed the grille ends and St. Christopher badge on the old grille

Posted Image

the old parts i won't be using

Posted Image

and the parts i will be repairing to make one good grille

Posted Image

then i straightened out all the dents and gave all the parts a good clean

Posted Image

then i gave them all a polish

going back in the garage now to put the grille together and put it back on the car :D

hi again all, just got back in from the garage. i've rebuilt my grille with new pop rivets and some more plastic pipe around the edges to act as a seal like the one on the bonnet

Posted Image

cleaned and refitted the C pillar liners, parcel shelf mat, factory speakers and under rear screen liner/cover thing

Posted Image

cleaned out the boot, fitted the battery cover and spare wheel, glued some soft pads to the bottom of the boot board legs and refitted it

Posted Image

i am going to buy a roll of black carpet to match the parcel shelf mat and then wrap my boot board, speaker board and line my rear bins + speaker boards with it

tomorrow we will fit the grille and new chrome washer jets + green washer pipe and fill/test the system

i'm trying to keep my 30 as standard as possible and things like the speakers are hard to get now...i also have the original radio :Dbut i'm going to put my new one in, purely for the usb connector otherwise i'd be cassettes all the way  the speakers should be pointing straight ahead from factory...i'm not actually going to link the speakers to the radio because i'm going to put my six powerful speakers under the rear seats and in the rear bins and two in my metro door pockets so i don't need these but i'm keeping them in there for the factory fresh look plus i don't think they'd handle some of my "louder" music ;D

oops my mistake >_< this says they should be aimed forward

http://www.boraman.c...0/interior.html

but this says other wise

http://www.boraman.c...30_interior.jpg

oh well, i'll live with mis-aimed speakers ;D lol mine were aimed straight ahead when i got it and the speakers had made groove in the parcel shelf mat so i've aimed mine forward to sit in the grooves...i must have early ocd or something O_O
