Covering the MX-5 ND center console with RedlineGoods leather:
1. Remove center console from car 1a. Remove shift knob
1b. Remove shifter surround trim
1c. Unscrew two screws at forward end of console
1d. Pull command module sharply at both ends to release clips
1e. Carefully turn command module over and release plug
1f. Pull sharply on both sides at the forward end, then both sides at the
rear end to release clips
1g. Guide parking brake boot over end of lever and remove 1h. Remove parking brake boot from console
1i. Turn console over and remove armrest/storage box by unscrewing silver screw on the bottom. Set armrest box aside.
2. Clean center console with alcohol and let dry
3. Paint center console and underside of leather with contact cement such as Weldwood. Allow to dry until both sides are tacky (10-15 minutes)
4. Carefully align leather with console and press into place. Stretch gently as you go to prevent wrinkles and misalignment.
5. Cut leather at cupholder hole as shown. Do not cut all the way to the edge. The leather will stretch over the console at the hole.
6. Cut small wedges as needed to fit leather around obstructions under the console and allow it to fold over the edges neatly.
7. Turn console over and trim excess. Leave enough leather to fold over the edges underneath.
8. Apply contact cement to underside of console and leather edges as needed. Allow to dry until tacky.
9. Carefully go around the underside of the console, sticking leather down and trimming where necessary for a neat job without bulk.
10. Reattach armrest/storage box and parking brake boot.
11. Align console clips and press down firmly until they click
12. Plug in command module and re-install
13. Replace two screws at forward end of console 14. Replace shifter trim
15. Replace shift knob. ENJOY!
