Well.. I've got to do an summer update since a lot of little thing changed!
The main thing was to drive the car and have the bug and problems to come out.
Well I got a issue about a bad tentionner pulley for the timingbelt, changed that!
Since then, the car is going good, very nicely.. well.. too nicely. Let's talk about that later!
First up, I installed an instinctor in the car, easy access, since now that I have a swap, we never know what can occur! We are never too safe!
Next on the list of this summer, since I bought a set of Work VS-XX last year, but then I broke the engine, It's time to rebuilt them to news!
As they were:
Front 18x8.5 +45
Rear 18x9.5 +39
I found that the rear one fit the front.. well.. almost perfectly! So I tought, why not put the front center on the rear barrels, and buy news 4inches rear lips, to mount with the front inner barrel to make some 10.5 in the rear? That's what I've done!
So new setup (offset is an approximative)
Front 18x9.5 +32 mount with 245-40
Rear 18x10.5 +26 mount with 275-35
So first I recieved the 4inches rear lips, brand news from Work USA (since work canada didn't answer me back...?)
Desassemble them.
Dirty bi***es! Got to clean those! I've got an hard them getting those cleaned!
Before and after pics!
I discovered the 4 wheels centers have already been repainted... what a mess.. got an 13 hours job mostly by hand to get those sand correctly! Paint was chipping everywhere!!
"work station"
The center after time and pain, finally prep for paint!
The "paintboot setup"
Let's get those 3pieces back together!
Test fitted'em! Seems legit!
Get them mount with tires, and well.. have to push the already rolled rear fender half an inch!
Final result!
Next up, back to my "problems" of my car going too nicely..
Here's the problem..
Jap 2JZ with jap ceramics turbo + intercooler + exhaust + custom downpipe = 20-21psi of boost... without any boost controller! Fun.. yet... but way too much for those ceramic turbos.. those a clean, very little shaft play sooo.. wanna keep them from destroying...Plus, It just keep getting the boostcut and I need a tune to get rid of that!
So I got to lower my boost to 16psi, because, as I have read on the internet and through people who experience ceramics turbo from 1jz or 2jz, 16psi is the "safe zone limit"... after what, It's at my own risk.
Problem is, the stock wastegate in the exhaust housing of the first turbo isn't enough big, even if I keep it open, It will lag a looooot but still boost 20-21psi in third gear or more. So...
Option 1: get myself a stock downpipe, as it didin't come with the engine... (I passed few hours building the one I have now so... not really an option!
Option 2: porting the stock wastegate in the exhaust housing to.. as big a possible!
Option 3: Get an aftermarket wastegate and get it installed on one of the two manifold... that are made in cast iron.. not the best material for welding! Plus.. there is not a lot of space to get something more there!
So... me and friend think about, modifying the option 1, by choking the exhaust to the original size, between the downpipe and the "cat"
We've done it, but it's very unstable. boost was between 17 and 20 psi, on hot temperature as we were in august.
So back the option 2.
Get the front turbo out (pain in the ass when the engine is not out! Managed to remove it in 2hours.
Here's the before pic, with a 2dollars piece. the stock size is 26mm.
Maximum size goal 33-34mm (as the wastegate "door" is 34mm
We've got it right and the door can close on two little place where I left a bore.
The result were good, but not enough. It now peak a 18psi. Unable to go more higher.. already I'm more safe, but as I wan't lower, we get back with the version 2 of the exhaust choke.. A cone from 3inches to 2.25 inches (stock size) mount from a flench put inside the exhuast just after the downpipe.
Now I'm boosting 16-17psi.. I can't go more.. And doesn't have any other idea! SO... I'll keep it that way!!
Next was my tow hook, since I used it once and it bent a little bit on the left side.
Reinforced it!
2x 3/8 inch steel bar, fully weld where it bent
After what I found the upper front grill for the 97-00 front bumper, thanks to Omar (2GSC300)
Recieved it, installed it, but found that anthracite with the chrome surround does really fits the car.
Got myself a can of plasti-dip from a rep of www.dipyourcar.com
And for the last, my buddy found me a Nardi steering wheel, + NRG short hub and NRG quick release.
This was the missing piece in my interior!!!
But now I found that my lower grey trim are hold and have a blue-green fade to them, so... maybe doing something with that soon!!!!
So that's it for now, I'm waiting for my waterpump from www.driftmotion.com because mine begin to loose collant from the clutch fan pulley...
Winter is coming again! 1 month and my car get back in the garage.
2012-2013 winter project:
- Getting 800cc injector (maybe the sard one, bolt on..) + Fuel regulator installed for the tune in 2013!
Goal: 375whp at 16-17psi
- installed my JL audio 10inch subwoofer in the stock lexus location and the amplifier and the capacitor in the trunk.
- Getting car ready for repair as I will respray the 2 side of the car (all my fenders have damage due to rolling/pushing and other things) + installing my 97-00 side skirt (DAMN those are really missing in the look of the car!)
- Get some tire and the car ready for the track season!!!
See you soon!
