more updates
i did manage to finish a few thigs since the last time i updated this thread .
the tank breather hose as well as the engine breather hoses are connected , i also wired the Alternator up and have it up and running :
the fuel system is currently finished ; the pump is mounted and plumbed , along with the regulator and filters and tank:
and i found a nicle little spot for the radiator puke can , but after installing the nose i figured i should raise it up a bit more since i have the room to do so :
and here is a general picture of the engine compartment all done up :
and i finally got to tinstalling the headlight covers and mounting them securely. as well as wiring the water pump and fan ( didn't get to the alky kit yet) .
now for the bad news , i did fire the car up and everything worked fine , untill i started noticing the temps creeping up . so after further investigating it seems that i have too much air in the radiator due to the fact the it is sitting horixontal and the fill cap is in the same location as befor , which means i can't top off the radiator .
so in order to fix that i decided to remove the radiator again and weld a fitting at the highest point in the radiaor to make it into a bleeder/ fill hole for now.
if that doesn't work , i'll cut the filler neck off and weld the hole shut , and run a line to a remote tank to use as a expansion tank deal .
another thing i noticed is the the brace i fabbed up to hold the nose inplace actually mad e the nose sit lower than bofore , which means there is a gap between the leading edge of the hod and nose . so now i have to remove the brace and basically elongate the mounting holes making them into slots so i can move the brace up.
also thinking that now since i have an alternator and battery drain is not an issue , and since the electric fuel pump is no more , why not use its signal for the trans cooler
so on the latest to-do list we have :
- elongate brace holes
- remove old cell
- relocate puke tank a bit higher
- weld bungs on radiator and check
- reinstall brace and nose
- maybe install the new front coil overs i have sitting here for almost a year now
