been trying to get this car finished. Finish up on issues found after paint and get more clear on the entire car. We are also base/clearcoating all the jams. the paint was a different shade between the two.
I also had a scratch in the left side of the rear section of the spoiler. Took it back to the painter and he redid it. he also added his logo to the spoiler
i found another spider crack to fix in the trunk jam.
here is the car after wet sanding before flowcoat and base repairs
Painted all the jams and issue spots with base, then cleared the entire body. I had to do the entire car in shifts. so the body was first, then the hood, trunk and upper header. Next was the lower header/center spoiler followed by nose, spoiler ends and bumper brackets/filler.
I already started on the cut and buff stage. We had a few runs on the body and those are sanded to 1500. I will come back and sand with 2000 and 3000 by hand and DA to do the entire car. Some areas i will barely do because they are so good and no trash. I bought a new DA sander that will work with the high grit paper to water sand. I also bought a 6" and 3" DA Polisher.
I did have a few runs here and there. Some bad pooling on the hood. i had some fish eyes and after alot of clear to fill them, i got some issues. Just time consuming the sand them all out. I only have the trunk filler to finish. I sprayed some black over the stripping area on the back side visible to the trunk area. the painter suggested this. So black first, scrotch bright tonight, then base/clearcoat.
this weekend will be lots of sanding. First all the runs while the paint is still soft. then i start on the body. Thanks for checking out my progess.
