Hopefully get these done and installed today. I made some templates to repair the one end of gas tank support. Then transfer to good metal and get all welded up.
More to come latter
Got both supports fixed and ready to install.
Don't know exactly where to place them so I think I will attach the gas atnk with the straps to figure that out.
Houston.............we have a problem
Got the new gas tank bolted to the supports and put in place.
The filler neck sticks way out of the tail panel. I got this tank new from a guy on ebay awhile back. Was listed as 74-81 camaro/firebird.
The tank is a Spectra Premium GM-210 Made in Canada. I put the tank that I was told came out of my car in and it fits perfect.
What gives? Is it not a camaro/firebird tank?
I am going to post this in Camaro questions forum too and see what is said about it.

I got the underside of the gas tank braces painted POR-15, ready to weld in. But now I am out of gas AGAIN
Gotta wait till friday(payday) to weld. I'm sure I can find something to do in the mean time

I do not weld thru the POR-15 if that is what your asking? Ya can't weld thru any kind of paint anyway.
The underside of the supports are POR-15. The top side is still bare metal for welding. I will plug weld the holes to the trunk floor. I mark each hole then sand to bare metal with my 80 grit roloc sanding disks. I plug weld each hole bare metal to metal. Here is a pic of how I mark each hole in place. After welding, I paint the top with POR-15. So far doing it like this I have had no problems.

Got gas...................(for the welder)
Got work..................
Lets get busy!!!
Got 1 of the gas tank supports in tonight. Will do the other one and whatever else I can tomorrow
The 2nd pic is from inside the trunk, I love when ya can see the other side of welding to ensure you are getting good penetration. It is nice to know the gas tank will not hit the street.
I can not believe how much more sturdy the trunk floor is with just one supprot in.

Got the other gas tank support installed. Both are now done and ready for some paint
Next I will get back at that last rear floor pan.
Here is a pic of the progress so far on the last rear floor pan, heck......this is THE last floor pan. Hopefully will finish tomorrow
Amazing Job! Really saved this car from rusting away!
