Back to work on the Camaro..

Took last week end off from the car to do a couple of side jobs, Need to keep the cash coming in to keep the project going. During the week i have been cleaning some of the nuts and bolts getting them ready to be recoated with Zink Phosphate, which i ordered on friday and should have it sometime next week. The hardware was put into muratic acid for about ten minutes then rinsed off with water and dried, this removes most of the rust and grease but does not remove the old paint. Then glass beaded cleaned and put the hardware into brown paper bags until they can be recoated. I needed to reposition the car to give me full access to the trunk and quater area of the car, and to get a little more clearance under the car. Once the jack stands were repositioned, raised and leveled there wasnt much weight on the front stands so i had to add a little counter weight.

I removed the gas tank straps, fuel and brake lines, and the e-brake pedal and cables. With the drivers side lower cowl area already started, I noticed that the bottom of the door hinge pillar should be cut out and replaced due to rust on the inside. It is questionable if it could be treated and not replaced but having to replace the outer rocker anyway i might as well cut it out and replace it with metal from my donor car.And began to remove the outer rocker.

With everything comming appart nice the day stated going down hill.... I wound up snapping four centering pins on my spot weld cutter. Without any more centering pins my hole drilling is done. I dont know if i had a bad batch of pins or what. each pin drilled one hole and snapped, i called my snap on guy and left a message waiting to here back from him to order more. And to make things worse.... On one side of my house lives an old lady, on the other side lives a middle aged couple. The older lady came over to tell me on friday while she was sitting on her porch the code enforcement pulled up in front of my house and got out of his car while i was at work. And the neighbor on the otherside of me came out to talk to him. So i will probably recieve a letter in the mail on monday or tuesday. I was gonna go out and do a little creative bush trimming for my neighbor something along these lines....

Hopefully my next post will have a little more progress then this one thanks for checking out my project Rob

Great cars so cool back then. I believe about $3,600 at the time?
