Thanks guys ( Chris, Big block & LT ) As far as the welding i did have to weld some imperfections on a second pass and grind agian. But it turned out pretty good. Chris, i thought about doing a little side work (welding) to help fund the paint job on my car. The hard part would be finding the work close to home. LT just about all of my repo sheet metal was bought from NPD and from what ive read there are only a few manufacturers. It doesnt really matter who you buy it from its all the same Sh** . You need to bend tweak sometimes cut and reweld to achieve a desireable fit. So far the only repop parts ive installed were the left and right outer rockers and the pass side floor pan. The R/s rocker was the worst spent at least a half of a day fitting it. The floor pan wasnt to bad, either was the drivers side rocker. But i still have 2 rear outer wheel houses, full trunk pan, quater skins, L/S floor pan, and a core supt to wrestle with and make them fit before all is said and done.
Everything else will be cut out of the donor an reused. Once agian thanks for the encouragement it sure helps keep me motivated on the car. Rob
More RUST Outta Here....
I started on the drivers side floor pan, Cleaning it up to find all of the spot welds. I drilled out all of the welds and made a cut with my cut off wheel along the inside edge of the inner rocker.
Thats one more rusty piece removed from my car. I like it...
Its been about six months since i started this project, Heres a pic of all the rust ive cut out and replaced since then. Quite a pile HUH?
More buried treasure found LOL these next two pics show some of the quality work being done out there. This is the drivers side toe kick where the e-brake cabe goes.
Here is another quality patch job under the rear seat.
This is a shot of the cross members cleaned up and rust treatment applied.
Now its miller time except with a bud lol..... and a little R&R
Great cars so cool back then. I believe about $3,600 at the time?
