I got some updates on the jeep. Last weekend I got a lot of work done on it and I've been driving it all last week. I found out two Fridays ago that I passed my professional engineering exam and I'm now a licensed professional engineer in North Carolina! I took the mechanical engineering exam and my afternoon session was mechanical systems and materials. I'm pretty pumped and now I get to add a couple letters to the end of my name.

Anyway, I left work early that day and got a cold beer and started working on the jeep. I got the frame notched and the springs plates as well. They were going to hit the shocks so I notched the corners. There isn't a lot of metal around the one slot but it's 3/8" thick and I don't think I"ll have a problem with it failing or bending.

Got to go walk the dog so I'll post pics later.

I also noticed my drivers side rear tire was getting slack after a week or so which prompted me to swap it out with the spare. I just figured it was leaks from the bashed up rim and the state of the tire in general. Wasn't looking for any problems but found a sheet rock screw in it. After putting the spare on and giving a good look at the tires, it's time I get some new ones. They still have tread but they are starting to crack, have gouges, scratches, and chunks missing out of them. The rims are dented and so rough you can get tetanus just by looking at them. So I think I'm going to save up some nickels and get some in the spring.

Picked up a set of stock YJ springs from a local buddy (Thanks Lucas!). I want to mix and match these springs and add an additional main. These will go in the rear for the SOA.

So, I'm about to pull the trigger on the Ruff Stuff SOA kit for 8.8's and get things rolling. I plan on getting the springs ready to install and kit here and then tear the axle out and go for it. I'll probably need new shocks and maybe a longer driveshaft but I'll cross those bridges when I get there.

I still have wheels and tires on the wishlist as well as the driveline parking brake. I want to get the parking brake first so I can keep the jeep from rolling.

Tore apart the steering column to replace the turn signal switch and clean up the inside. Had an issue with the left turn side not staying down and getting harder to engage. Still have it apart.
