Update,
Decided to start on the rear of the car this weekend as I can't do anything else to the front until I remove the engine. I bought some more box section to make a heel board jig and to make some bracing for the passenger side.
Box section -
Then we removed the rear subframe -
It's been bodged to high heaven like everything else on this car, two huge plates on the top and a patch on the bottom, so will be replacing this with a new one -
Ku-rusted the heel board repair section where it had been spot welded -
Then I primed it up -
Then we made this -
We made two metal plates and matched it up to the subframe holes and drilled the holes. Then we cut the bar to the correct length and welded the plates to it. Simple but a critical tool.
Then it was back to body work and cutting out more rusty Mini -
THE BODGE IS STRONG IN THIS ONE !!!
And this is what we were left with -
Looks quite daunting but once the heel boards in it will all drop into place fairly easily, ( HE SAYS ) !
Anyway we got the heel board in -
How it fits with the subframe on -
Pig of a job, but it had to be done, and feels like a big milestone as I really wasn't looking forward to doing this job.
Should have something real nice to show at the end of the month though
