right hi again all, another solid day working on this install lol first off we finished of the enclosure by fixing on the top, cutting out the hole for the sub, feeding the wire through and leaving all the silicone to dry
then we fitted the amp to the bulk head a wired it all up to the variable side of the isolator and ran the rca cable though the cabin (round the gap between the rear seat back and the quarter panel - don't worry i've made sure it is protected from sharp edges and curves round bends rather than kinks) you can see the bullet connectors on the speaker wire by the arch which will make for quick removal if i need the extra boot space for whatever reason
the amp has been mounted over the recess in the the rear bulkhead to get some extra clearance for cooling
then we wrapped the box in the same carpet as the boot and rear speaker board
and then finally fitted the woofer - very snazzy i think
just as we were finishing off fitting the sub my neighbourgh came over and gave me this
been sat in his loft for a while and just let me have it and it's a 12 inch .... typical any one know anything about the brand or specs of the sub ? anyway we put the sub box in, its a tight fit but it is removable - just
and put all my spares, jack a tools back in and well it's safe to say no big shopping trips with the sub in situ lol
we then went to give it a test, the radio came on and set it to enable the sub and..... nothing after fiddling around with fixings and connectors we called it a night - gutted however, after looking back through every line of the radio and amp booklets i think i may have found the problem - someone (not naming names here) has forgot to wire in the remote antenna feed that tells the amp to switch on oops luckily there is one built into the beading that separates the rca positive and negatives so the wire is already in place and just needs extending and connecting. looks like i have err i mean who ever forgot this has got away with their mistake lol
so unfortunately no video of panel rattling yet but it will get done, i just want to here my new toy for the first time now

high all, i got the sub working yesterday after connecting up the missing wire - sounds epic and i haven't set my gains and filters up properly yet (left them all turned down to start with) so this should be awesome the only rattle is the number plate on the boot lid but it isn't too bad, the sub also has caused my one side light to shake loose :L lol
we'll be at Malvern at the weekend and im sure i wont be able to help turning it up ;) hehe

i've got an apprenticeship with a guaranteed job at the end of a three year day release foundation degree (two days a week for the first year and one day for the last two years) in design engineering specialising in advanced CAD and CNC machining - the job is a co-manager of CAD and overseeing CAM manufacture for a company called WMH-Transmissions, they make gears, threads and linear motors and are moving into robotics, hydraulics and pneumatics. That's where i come in as they are putting me and my mate from sixth form (my future co-manager) through this course to make us a very useful asset to the company, as well as sales reps who have go and visit clients - no pressure really

hi all, it was my birthday Friday so i got myself some nice new parts:
- new 11 slat internal release grill
- the three grill surrounds
- finishing moulding for the surrounds
- new drums, shoes and bearings as they were making some noise
i've also got most of my planned engine performance bits - over haul of the ignition so far i've got:
- electronic replacement for the points/condenser
- sports distributor cap
- sports rotor arm
- performance red HT leads (wanted black to keep with the colour scheme but oh well they're red at least)
- triple ground spark plugs
- high voltage coil (chrome to fit colour scheme)
i was going to get the stealth black box programmable ignition and rev limiter but it wont really have much effect on small bore engine so i stopped myself....for now the sound of the rev limiter is very nicccceeee though so its still on the to buy list
any way i had a great time at L2B spoke to some great people and saw some amazing mini's....and to top it off someone took these pics
cliff leading the group
love the wedge stance
good news is cliff didn't over heat on the run and ran sweet as a nut all day. bad news is i think i have warped disks now the pads have bedded in but it means i can get some sporty breaks - was going to go vented 4 pots but they need adaptors etc so i'll stick with non vented for now with some uprated pads and maybe get some normal 4 pots if i find some cheap

hi all, after noticing some violent juddering under braking and a drone all the time, we looked at the brakes to find the rear bearings were worn and my front disks were warped with uneven pads so i got a new pair of drums, shoes and bearings for the rear; new disks and pads for the fronts and beings as i was swapping both i decided to uprate to the mini spares higher quality disks and some mintex M1144 pads as i've heard good things about these
oops
now my brakes stop really well and the handbrake actually keeps the car still - they aren't even bedded in yet
i also fitted my electronic conversion the other day plus my new grill as the grill really was letting the car down imo
new top (surrounds not fitted in pic) - old bottom
fitted - unfortunately the near side edge peice fits a bit poor in relation to the bonnet finishing strip but on the whole i'm pleased with it
all fitted (elecy conversion, new leads, coil, plugs)
also fitted the bonnet seal whilst i was at it. started up and runs great plus no more points/condenser to worry about
Cheers all
Rhys
PS: realised i have only got about 5/6 weeks left until my test and i've only had 15 hours so far fingers crossed any way
Wow this is amazing!
