4th of July update

Lets start out with a few pics of the new AMD Cowl Hood, We finished the bodywork on the L/S door so it was put back on the car along with the fenders so we could test fit the new hood. To my surprise it is very well made it even seems to be a little heavier than the factory flat hood. It seems to fit very well also. It still needs a few minor adjustments in the pics but very happy with this product. I will also post a few pics of the on going bodywork. The shell and L/S door is one more blocking away from being paint ready. Still need to do the bodywork on the R/S door, decklid and front end sheetmetal. Very slow process but moving in the right direction.

getting closer.....

Its been over a month since my last post, the work on the car has not stopped during this time. As of right now all of the bodywork is complete, all of the blocking is done, Lots of it..... And yes i did do alot of sanding to help the bodyman and the painter to get to this stage, And learned alot during the process. All body panels and the shell have been sealed. During this week all of the jam areas will be given a final scuff and will be shot with paint next saturday. Once dry the car will be put back together and be hauled down to the bodyshop where my friend works and put into the paint booth. So we should have color on this project the sat after next if all goes well. Then i go on vacation for 2 weeks starting the 2nd of September. Hoping to have the paint complete and car back to my house by then. During those 2 weeks of vacation i will be hard at it putting this car back together. This thread will become very active once agian, stay tuned...

Here are a few pics of my project in many pieces once agian. The person in the pics is a buddy of mine (Mike) he will be laying down the paint on my car.

Friday after work... my car hitches a ride to the bodyshop.

Finally the day has come to bring my car to the bodyshop for a little color. After work Friday i had the camaro towed to the bodyshop where the painter a good friend of mine works.

Unloaded and ready for one last blocking just to be on the safe side. I felt like Ive been blocking this car for months by now.

We then put the car in the booth put it up on jack stands and removed the wheels. Once on stands the car was masked off from top to bottom, including the whole underside of the car. Lots and lots of taping.

It was a very late night Friday , here is the temp in the spray booth at 12:00 midnight. We worked until almost 2:00 in the morning getting the base color layed down on the car.

Sat Morning back at it...

First off this morning we began to lay out the stripes, I had purchased a stencil kit from Stencils & stripes. I was a little disapointed in the stencil kit and wound up laying out most of the stripes by hand.

Once masked off the stripes were laid down on the car.

When we peeled off the stencil tape it left glue all over the new white basecoat. It must have been some old stripe tape. Once all of the glue was carefully removed the clear was then applied, and is drying as i speak. Heres a few shots wet still in the booth. Once the car is brought back to my house on Sunday i will post more pics of the paint.

Great cars so cool back then. I believe about $3,600 at the time?
