Here are some of the pics of the interior after I used Raptor Liner truck bed liner in the interior. Will the car be heavier? Yes. Do I care? No. The floors will never rust and it will be a nicer ride with a bit of sound deadening. But wait there's more!
Back of the car:
The trunk looks like this:
This is where I stripped the body down, sanded the whole thing and got rid of the old rattle can primer. It worked well, but needed to be replaced with Zinc Coating, Epoxy primer and 2k high build with an actual spray gun. Oh, I also added Fat Mat to the roof, doors, rear panels, firewall....everywhere. You can see it in the interior of the pictures.
Dull looking metal from the Zinc Coating!
Okay purist, get ready to get mad! You'll notice there is a huge hole where the rain can run down the drip rail into the inside of the car. The 1800 always has rust in front of the doors on the kick panels. The reason for this, I believe, is because of this hole. I thought about what would be the best way to cover it up and have the water run down the door and out the bottom of the sill. So here's a pic. Before:
After:
Alright...time for 2 coats of Epoxy and 4 coats of 2K High build. Now when you see the car you'll say WOW that's pretty straight. Wrong! Once I started using long Dura Blocks and SEM guide coat the truth was told. I had 8 dents below the VOLVO lettering on the back of the car alone! I have around 4 layers of bondo on the car already. Keep in mind they're skimmed, sanded and feathered each time, but still, a lot of work! My garage is covered in dust. My buddy block sanded his 63 Impala and used 3 gallons of bondo. The car had less than an 1/8th of an inch an any given area. How, you may ask? Perfection takes a lot of bondo and sanding to get an end result without waves and perfect lines! Here you go!
You'll also notice...1. Frenched rear plate 2. No side markers 3. Welded trim holes 4. No front badge 5. No rear badges, except the V-O-L-V-O 5 No vents 6. No gas cap! Sorry purist!
