After driving it for a couple of weeks I had three major problems - a lack of heat issue, a lot of oil leaking from everywhere, and a hesitation under acceleration. I had a few codes (hard to remember now) but I know that I had an o2 issue, and a TCV issue. So I ordered a new TCV and vacuum lines because based off my experience with the Jetta, I knew something as simple as some cracked vacuum lines or a bad solenoid can give you issues under boost. I also bought some fuel injector cleaner, and catalytic converter cleaner in hopes that might clear it up - it didn't. The TCV and cleaner fixed some issues, and helped, but it wasn't completely fixed. More on that later.

I needed to stop the oil leaks. I don't like leaving oil all over my driveway, but I also didn't want to have to keep dumping oil in to keep it topped off. Some of the oil leaks were solved by replacing all the seals for the turbo oil feed and drain lines, and I also replaced the drain line itself. That thing is impossible. It's one hard line from the turbo to the block, and there is no room to work on the block side. It took me 2 days of messing with it to make sure I didn't cross thread the bolts. Someone even messaged me on IG saying they cross threaded the bolts, and when they replaced the line they had the engine out of the car! Additionally, most DIYs said you had to remove the angle gear. I'm not sure why as that wasn't really in my way, but I didn't do that and was able to manage. That was a big success, but unfortunately didn't solve all my oil leak issues. I really wish I had filmed all this and made videos, but I was more concerned with getting this car in shape for winter than taking the time to make videos about it. More on the heat and engine issues in the next posts!
