Fix that Saggy Grill
Compliments of ninjapants @ www.vwvortex.com
So after posting multiple times on how to get people to fix their sagging grill and being pm'd asking for the fix I think this will just make it easier. A sagging grill can ruin the whole look of the front end and that it is such an easy fix it's amazing more people don't take care of it. I did this a while ago so I only have pics of the end result but it's pretty self explanitory. So here goes... first obviously I'm not responsible for your **** ups. This is what you need:
1 - Rubber cover for the leg of a bar stool
1 - 4" bolt
4 - Washers that fit the bolt but aren't to loose
3 - nuts for the bolt
The setup:
The idea is to gently lift the center portion of the grill to the point it becomes level. Remove your front bumper first. Then comes the setup. Start by creating a hole in the center of the plug for the bolt. Place a washer on the bolt and slide it from the flat side of the plug through the hole and then place another washer on the other side. Then place a nut on the bolt and tighten it up. Now drill a small hole in the bumper between the 2 holes where the grill sits. Place a nut then a washer on the bolt and place it in the new hole in the bumper from the top. Then place a washer then a nut on the bolt from the bottom and tighten. Using these nuts on either side of the bumper you can raise and lower the rubber piece to adjust how much pressure you place under the grill to raise it. If the rubber piece is too large you can trim some off the bottom so it sits lower. Slide the bumper back on but don't bolt it in, just adjust the rubber guy and nuts until you get the grill level. Now that you are done, put your bumper back on, grab a , and admire your handiwork.
Now your grill won't sag like an old lady's tits
