Worked till about 11.30 last night taking the engine apart, documenting as I go .

Everything looks to be in good shape, and I think I caught it in time. It will need a new crankshaft as there are some scratches on the journals from the debris. however rods and pistons look great.

I am also going to be building another engine to go with this one, that way I will always have a back up motor.

later

yeah most definitely, owned this car since 2006

a quick video where you can see the failure on the big end

Happy 4th everyone.

Weight with 18s , me ( 170) and 3/4 tank of gas is 3040

With slicks , me and 3/4 tank of gas car is 2984

Everything has been dropped off to the machine shop.. Crank could have got away with a polish, but since I got the new crank I will use that in this engine.

For my back up motor, I am going to most likely do an aluminum rod engine.

I know matt is going to the shootout.. are you going Mrboost? I am hunting right now for a 67mm turbo as my wife has instructed me to buy a new turbo  and transmission is off to TRE for some treatment as well

Picked the block and head up yesterday from machine shop.. So I can begin assembling everything. The crank bearings looked great and the machine shop was able to polish the crank out, so I will be fortunate to use it for the spare built short block that I will put together this winter.

4 WEEKS UNTIL THE SHOOTOUT!!!!!!!!!

still waiting on trans and tcase.

Busy weekend working on everyone elses car, as they are preparing for the shootoutout as well. However I still had a little time to assemble the engine with the help of my son and jeremy

My 2.5 year old son is borderline fanatical when it comes to engines and evos.   You can see his first engine laying on the ground in the pictures below.( old cbr engine for his shifter kart project)

Tonight I will add the turbo assembly and intake side so that the only thing left is obtaining the Trans and Tcase.
