I got a possibility of it being the power steering pulley as well as the bolt that goes into the pulley was not installed during the build. I was also told that it sounds like the bearings are shot. I understand that things like this happens. Assuming this is the case, I will make a post on the Mitsubishi Parts thread on here to see how much the power steering pulley costs as I was told that it is expensive. My two main questions are:


1. Can the pulley be installed without removing the entire engine?

2. Can I still safely drive the car until I get it fixed?


Oh no. I will not tackle this task at all. I will buy all of the parts and have Archie do the work for me. I can just see myself utterly failing at this task. I am a techy so when it comes down to using my hands, the area between my brain and hands are unable to receive messages.

Megatron (the version that sits in my garage right now), is the reincarnated version of the one you speak of. Strangely, I always pulled for Megatron when I watched the Transformers as a young'un knowing that Optimus was going to get the last straw.


As for the Detroit-version, he will not be on my fantasy draft as I have a theory about picking a beast after a great prior year. Time will tell if this holds true.


As for the pulley, I tried to wiggle it this morning and it does not move. I do not have the tools at the moment to do any replacing as my garage is still suffering from my trip to Afghanistan. I know the pulley needs to be replaced but right now I am focusing on what the "whining" sound is. I will take a video when I get home this evening and post for you fellahs to chomp on.

I have learned another lesson about the "smaller things" being important. As you fellahs know, I put in some Amsoil 20w50 motor oil about a week ago and started to hear the raspy ticking noise shortly afterward. Well, I thought my lifters were either inoperable, needed to be bled, or replaced altogether. It sounded like a bunch of chipmunks having a party under my valve cover. Well, this weekend, I put it some 10w30 and behold, the raspy ticking chipmunk sound has nearly been totally eliminated. Lesson learned, and I will stick with 10w30 from now on.


Here is the first pull on E85. I still had a quarter of 87-octane when I filled the tank. For this pull, the temperature outside was still around 105-degrees. This is also on a single Walbro 255lph.






I am about to start a thread in the dyno section in order to keep all things organized.
