Built my custom speedo today. I'm extremely happy with the outcome, think it looks ace! (Even if I do say so myself... )
Cheers!
Was a little fiddly to do, had to grind off the edges where the square block that would usually hold the internals on meets the actual back plate, then grind a square hole into a round hole! Took about an hour to get right, but once done looks spot on. Just used a little bit of quck steel to hold it all in place.
Only small issue is that I can't use the original fuel gauge, as the mechanism goes up too high and fouls the digi-dash. Will have to use the one on the digi dash! Just ground the top of the faceplate down a little to allow it to miss, but still fill the hole and look 'original'.
This backplate was meant as an experimental one, as I have a much tidier one. But as it fitted so well I just used the 'like new' faceplate, glass and surround and kept the old backplate. You never see it, so no-one will ever know! (Unless they're reading this right now... )
This looks like fun!
