A little update on my experiment with electrolysis trying to clean a backplate that was freshly painted with hammerite
This is how it looked after 24hrs in the bath
And after a good scrub most if the paint flaked off but ill out it back In for another day. The black parts you can see is where the rust was and has now been converted back to iron and this is what you are cleaning off
This is what you sacrificial steel will look like
And the end result for me is fully rust free refurbished radius arms
I know it's not the fastest method but is removes the rust without using power tools and removing some if the good metal
Bit boring updates this week but it may be useful to somebody who wants to give it a go

Productive couple of days not many pictures if doing but what I've done
Started yesterday welding on the drivers rear quarter this one was a very bad fit and needed lots of work to fit but it's on also cut and tubbed
Plenty of plugs underneath
And plenty on top
So glad I decided to make the join lower down and keep the window curve
Just a few plug welds to grind down then it's done
Then needed a break from grinding so out all these bits together
Another day off work tomorrow so I'll get some more done should have it on all fours

So another day off work means another day on mini and today was seam sealing stone chip and painting the arches and valance
this comes in so handy
Gives a good amount of clearance
And I think you get the idea here it's all black
Then less than two years after it sort of rolled in the garage I pushed it out on 4 wheels!!!
Propa chuffed today sitting a little low and the camber and toe is all over the place but it's rolling

Not been up to much lately stripped the engine and front subby all down for painting and final welding

Done a bit more today just stripping down all the front subframe and prepping all the bits for paint not really picture worthy but I did find the fiesta calliper carriers were a little too crusty so set the bath up again
Also quickly running out if room now everything is back off the car the hoist came in handy again
Made this little bracket for the engine stabiliser it's made if most of the mg steady so bolts to the sump in the normal way and there will be another part welded to the frame
Not my best welding but it's strong
Wow what a build!
