I have found out the speedo spindles needed for this gearbox to match up with the 3 clock dash. The dash has the numbers 1312 in very small writing at the bottom left. Its a bit of a bugger to read but you can just about make it out with a torch. Any way with this gearbox being a metro vanden plas type, the final drive now set at 3.105-1, and the wheels and tyres being 165/60x12. This means that I need the spindles to be 17 and 7 tooth.
Here are all the bits.

So first job was to slide the 7 tooth drive into the housing.

Fit a new gasket and then bolt the housing to the side of the box.

The 7 tooth drive fits into the slot on the end of the shaft in the gearbox.

Next the 17 tooth spindle and guide go in the housing and slide down to engage with the drive.

Once thats done you can see the speedo drive working if you turn the gears.

Last thing is to fit the retaining plate for the drive gear and the bit that the speedo cable screws onto. Dont forget the gaskets.

So thats it All done. I have checked the figures for this gear box and the speed to revs ratio in fourth gear should be as follows.

2000 revs = 38mph

3000 revs = 57mph

4000 revs = 76mph

5000 revs = 95mph

6000 revs = 114mph

7000 revs = 133mph

8000 revs = 152mph.

This gearbox is going under the 1380 I am about to build and Im hoping for a power output of 100+bhp and a rev limit at about 6500 - 7000.
So if all goes well im looking at a quick little car. But of course the figures are not always achievable as there are so many factors to take into consideration, but if I build it properly and use good quality parts then I think these figures could be in reach.

Will post photos of the pistons, camshaft, roller tip rockers, etc as they arrive.
