Almost done! I just need to boot in the axles, but everything fits well on #camilathe68cougar remember this was a kit designed for the Mustangs, but with a phone call out to @stangaholics I got the right stuff to make this kit fit, specifically the subframe connectors as you know the Cougars 67/68 Wheel bases are longer than its essential cousin lol good lord I love this setup, I can wait to knock the socks off of ppl when this thing hits the road ahead! And @camilathe68cougar is planted! ? I didn’t install the rear brake calipers as I wanted to make sure the rear suspension was mocked first to make sure everything fits correctly and it does! This actually wasn’t too bad to install. Read read the instructions several times on the shitter, patio, at in-laws, have your friends read them too, shoot sleep with the damn Manuel before taking the plunge ?. I think I chose the good path to go down with Mt build, I absolutely love it and it’s really unique especially for a Cougar. Here’s an under shot of clearance, this was before any cutting of the inner wheel wells. The wheels are @vintagewheelworks 17X8 275s but I don’t remember the backspacing on these wheels, I think they’re 4.5” but don’t quote me. The IRS setup did help open up possibilities for a custom wheel. I have a little more clearance from the outer wheel lip and I also have additional clearance cutting up the the stock unibody frame rail. Unfortunately for the Cougars/Mustangs the frame rail tapers in throughout the wheel well which is why @detroitspeed sells their mini tub kit they relocates the rails to fit huge wheels/tires to fit 335s. My goal is to get to 305s/315s the most. I think I will be able to accomplish that as is. Changing the rails will require additional changes to the @heidtssuspensions cradle that I don’t want to change at this moment. That coffin thing I posted earlier, welp because I was in a hurry I was unable to document the unboxing and assembly! With that said, I picked up a rotisserie for @camilathe68cougar. Honestly I should have done this a lllloonnnnggg time ago, it would have made things a lot easier. I did look at getting a dolly, but I wanted to be able to rotate this car as I restore it so it’s easier and I’m not laying on Concrete doing work (I’m not 22 anymore and I’m sure many would related ?) I also wanted to this for transporting the car now and in the future as needed. Due to the length of pig roasting @camilathe68cougar I needed to source a temp use trailer long enough to hold this sucker for transport however it still wasn’t long enough. I utilized a winch and additional straps will do the trick! If not I’ll post the carnage later ?. The wheel on the last pic was ok as is, trust me I’m a hot rodder ?. big thanks to my buddy @rudy_67 for the borrowing of his trailer! Next up mini tubs! Well that escalated quickly! I found a shop that would be willing to fabricate minitubs for a fair price. I was NOT expecting this to be done so quickly by a local shop. I dropped it off a few days ago and bam! The shop was nice enough to send pics of the tubs. Well sometimes we can be easily Influenced from time to time. I mean isn’t that the reason why we build custom cars to add our special attributes to it? I’ve always wanted to caged car. Ever since seeing the @porsche GT3s with stock cages just adds to the “Wow” factor when looking inside the vehicle, Especially when the color is juuusstt right! I wanted a cage in my old Late model mustang but my brother talked me out of it back then...not this time!
