Tonight I brought down the rest of the cage components to assemble the 6 point cage for #camilathe68cougar. It’s prob been close to a year since I’ve had it all buttoned up due to blasting, body and paint, etc. and man I’m happy I went through the extra steps to install a cage in this build. The driver and passenger doors are swing outs that are detachable when desired. The bar behind the front seats is also detachable so the rear seats can be used for cruises in the future. Calling out all 68 Cougar owners, I need a little help here. I’m testing to mock my column (ended up not using the mock column here, but will later) and I need to find measurements from the bottom end of the column mount (see example on the second pic) to the top of the column sans the cap. Can someone shoot me measurements please? As of right now, this column sits at the most forward setting on the slits that the column has and the column mount below. However for some reason it seems like it’s too long (heeeeyyyy!) the measurements right now at 14 1/8” from the end of the under dash clamp up to the top of the column. I may need to install the seat to get a better feel for reach/sizing etc. THANK YOU for the feedback! Featured #camilathe68cougar build partners:

?Goood morning! You’ve might have already noticed a little Easter egg in the past but I want to make it official! With that said.... @ididitsteering is now helping support the #camilathe68cougar build! I’m super excited to have them in my corner for this journey and I’m excited to bring this “project within another project” part of this build. ididit has been making the finest quality steering columns and related accessories for the hot rod and muscle car enthusiast for the past 30 years and continues to expand on that tradition. As a result of several paths taken with this build; brand new @ronfranciswiring kit (big thank you for the support), the desire for an alternative steering wheel, AND drum roll in the next few pics E-steer! I’ll admit this part has taken me a lot longer to figure out how to splice this bad boy within an aftermarket column due to the variables above. However @ididitsteering has been very very helpful on getting this figured out. I am hoping to have this finalized by end of week (fingers crossed here). And guess what? I will be making a deep dive video/tutorial on what is needed if you’re interested in converting from manual steering or power (pulley operated) steering to E-Steer.
