INFINITI G35 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
The armrest needs to be removed for ease in installation. Open armrest, locate the metal hinges. Where the hinge meets the console base, there will be two small notches. Insert small screwdriver and pop the hinge cover plate open. Loosen the 4 phillip head screws and remove the armrest assembly.
Separate the hinge assembly from the Leather Cover Assembly by removing the 4 phillips head screws. The Plastic Undercarraige is lightly glued to the Leather Top Unit. Unscrew the single phillips head screw, then separate the Leather Top Unit from plastic undercarraige by inserting a screwdriver all around to pry apart. The front latch unit will fall out; set aside to reinstall later. If your model vehicle has rear facing hvac vents, pry the cover and remove the hvac assembly. The old leather cover can now be removed and set aside for reference.
Stretch the new leather cover onto the plastic undercarraige to insure a snug fit. Trim excess fabric to match the old cover. Stretch and glue cover to hold into place. Locate the hole for the hvac vent, and cut a square pattern out, approximately 4 X 1 inches, leaving sufficient fabric to remain. Reinsert the hvac unit, trimming as necessary. HVAC unti should snap in snugly. If not, trim more fabric, being careful to not trim too much.
Apply adhesive to the plastic connector strips that you originally disconnected to separate the top pieces. Reconnect the two sections, inserting the front latch piece, and allow adhesive to set. Reinsert the single phillips head screw that held the sections together. Reinstall the assembly by anchoring the hinges with the 4 phillip head screws. Test assembly to insure the front latch reconnects. Place heavy object like a laundry detergent container to sit overnight to allow adhesive to set.
ENJOY YOUR NEW LEATHER ARMREST
Useful tip
You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
