Strapping in! Safety equipment is important, and that includes your clothing. Under my red fire suit, I was dressed in Nomex (heat & flame resistant clothing) from head to toe. The fire suit is made of the same Nomex material (actually 3 layers of it) but wearing cotton, polyester, etc clothing under the suit could be bad news if I were to get stuck in the car during a fire. Typical clothing, like cotton tees and polyester leggings can still get very hot, even when not directly exposed to fire. They can melt, drip, or even steam your sweat against your skin. It was 80-90°F during this track event, and yes, wearing all this gear made me sweat buckets, but as I continue to progress in my racing, it's time I get used to wearing #allthesafetyallthetime. That includes wearing my @schrothracing SHR Flex shoulder & head restraint. I've had all this gear for over a year, but have only been wearing my suit (and gloves & shoes). Recent conversations, and a few bad wrecks in the community have prompted me to get used to wearing #atsatt(All the safety all the time), even for a simple Track Night in America event. I encourage my fellow track drivers to do the same.

Fun with cars is a real thing! For me, the fun really started when I got my 2017 Mustang GT. Autocross, drag racing, trackcross, car shows, cars & coffee, and (not pictured) wet skid pad drifting. Hank and I have tried it all. I was always a car girl, but my Mustang helped me find my passion in racing. #funwithcars

Motorsport 4the Masses has introduced Short Course Driving Education (SCDE) to motorsports. It is Not autocross! Set up like a miniature Road Course, SCDE is basically a scaled down HPDE. You drive with other cars on track in continuous lapping. The turns are tighter and top speeds are closer to highway driving and not triple digits (although I know some of you hit triple digits on the hwy! ) At SCDE, there are flag stations with trained workers that utilize the same flags you'll see on track; green, yellow, red, black, and even blue w/ yellow stripe. There are passing zones, and drivers must give point bys. The course is outlined with white lines, there's no reading cones. There are run-off areas and soft barriers. The barriers will leave a mark, so don't hit them, but they won't total your car or cause personal injury. Driving session are usually 10-15 minutes, with a total of 40-60 minutes of drive time per event. Trust me, you will be exhausted after each session. Most courses have 15+ turns and fun straightaways. With instructors available for novices, and intermediate & advanced run groups, this is a motorsport for all driving levels. Have questions? Comment below and Tune into Ryan Cheek Racing on FB for our Monday Livestream at 6:45pm Eastern Time. We will have Motorsport 4the Masses on as our special quests to answer questions and talk more about their program!

Great thread! I had a 2013 Mustang GT. I regret that I never got to take it to a track and really see what it could do. Looks like a blast!
