5-speed.............. So before I torque this all down I just want to double check the placement of the thrust washer. The Haynes manual shows it being placed on the inside of the block between the crank and block:
Sean Hylands example doesn't show much:
It was my understanding from research online ect. that the thrust washer is to counteract the forward forces on the crank from the clutch/flywheel, which makes it seem to me it would have to go on the outside of the back of the block between the block and crank (where it currently is)...HERE:
But the Haynes manual and other comments here and there have me second guessing myself saying/showing it placed...HERE:
So if you know for sure the right placement please post it and I can get'er torqued up. Thanks in advance.
Ya, when I took it apart it stuck to the block and I didn't realize it until I saw it in the basket of the hot tank so I didn't get a look at the exact placement. Anyone have a Helms manual for 96-98 Cobras/MarkVIII that could check it out, or access to alldata/Mitchell ?
I found some other info so i'm fairly confident i've got the TW correctly placed. Wld-Wst, is your block already put together? I just got an ARP tapered ring compressor I ordered. Thats the only thing keeping me from putting the whole lower end together. Since I zero decked it I couldn't put much of a taper on the top of the cylinders and I don't want to break any rings "pounding" the pistons in plus i've heard they are really nice so we'll see. Gonna put it all together tomorrow.
Nice build!
