Well, today is my first day off, and my first day of my vacation. I had planned on having all of my parts by now, since I ordered them on the 23rd of April. I still havent recieved my upper control arms, or rear sway bar.
I kind of need the control arms, if im going to be able to finish my project.. I'm a bit upset, because I took vacation time to build my car, and my parts haven't showed up after 8 weeks...
Anyway,
I came off of a grave yard shift last night, went home and grabbed 2 hours of sleep, and had planned on spending an entire day working on Cindy. Well, I have my son, and there was a local car show on, so we stopped by and checked that out. Nothing too crazy there, not a single second gen! By the time it was all said and done, I got to Cindy at about 3 in the after noon.
I pulled the motor today. Here's a before shot:
As you can see, kind of a mess. I am doing my best to maintain the AC. Although, I may just break down, pull the compressor, and save it for later. I would like to be able to just drive the car. AC may end up being a project for next summer or something...
Here I am about half way through. I didn't want to rush at all. I could have gotten this done faster...
I decided to take a break from engine pulling, and bolted up my rear tires.
I didn't expect them to clear, and well... they didn't. They bolt up, but rub on the shock. Also, I never put the car down under its own weight. Not that I would mean anything though, I haven't swapped the new springs in yet. We will see if I have to roll fenders or not. Time will tell...
Front, and rear....
When I ended up pulling the engine out, these fell from the block. I guess I don't fully understand how these engine mounts work. On my 1980 Camaro, I have the clamshell mounts. These are just kind of sitting there. Does anybody know where I can get some polyurathane bushings for these motor mounts?
Do I have the "tall" or "short" engine mounts?
Engine pulled!
If I have time tomarrow, I plan on degreasing the engine, and priming the bay. Also, swapping the rear out of the 1980, and into Cindy...
Love the old camaros
