Hey Hendrix with 28lbs of air and mounted on 8" wide rims and on the rear or the Jeep they are about 34 1/8" +/-. I'll measure the fronts once I park it a little better.
If I think of it I'll measure em off the Tj when I go to put a front axle joint in Sunday....
Crappy pics, not enough room in the driveway...
I cant wait for my Spyder crap to get here...
Gonna try to align it Sunday too.

Well the DeFenders came in Thursday and Im going to paint and install the front ones tomarrow. Hopefully.
I also ordered a 12Voltguy incab winch control panel on Monday or Tuesday and it came in today. That is EXCELLENT shipping as it came from the Peoples Republic of California. Anxious to hook it up and get it going.
So Im going to use a self-etching primer on the fenders(bare steel) should I use a primer sealer and then the industrial Rustoleum satin black or just the etching primer and paint? Do I really need the sealer?

*I cut and pasted this from my JeepinWV build thread*
Alright its been a rather productive day.
I woke up to this:
.....?
Anyway I loaded up the Tj and went to my dads buddies garage to tackle this install.
Heres the Poison Spyder front Defenders with a 3" flare and the rear weld on 3" Defender flares.
Really good welds. Im guessing TIG but mabey robot MIG, IDK:
First step is to hang the fenders and the battery bracket from the ceiling and apply self etching primer. 2 coats. Followed by 2 coats of Rustoleum Industrial Semi-gloss Black.
While these are drying you cut the inner fenders out of the OEM ones. I used a Sawzall, Air Cheisel, Dremel with a cutoff wheel, and an angle Grinder.
Cut the top of the fender but leave about an inch to bolt to the DeFenders...
Then take the air cheisel and seperate the seam to peal the flat part off by the tub. You also have to unbolt the "brace" that holds that little tray too.
Here is what you cut off of the "top" of the fender.
And everything cut off thats not going to be used again:
And then your ready to bolt the DeFender on. *TIP* Loosen the body mount bolt that holds the grille in place and loosen the grill "rods" that connect to the tub. Then bolt the fenders to the grill FIRST! Then put the back part of the inner fender behind the rear two "prongs" of the DeFender. THEN bolt them to the tub. Once you do that you pull whats left of the top of the fender flush with the top of the DeFender and drill 5 holes and put the provided SS hardware in, bolting the inner to the Defender.
Before you do the passinger side you have to put the new "high rise" battery bracket in then you do the same thing for that side. BUT you have to move the vaccume storage "box" thats on the inside of the inner fender or you wont get everything to line up and be forced to take it ALL back apart. Trust me on this on...
Now you bolt the little metal peices in that finish up the "side" of the fender. I tired to paint mine the color of the Tj but couldnt find any Duplicolor for a Chrysler. So I used some for Fords. Almost matched perfect. You cant tell unless you really look at it closely.
Oh and by this time your 3 "helpers" have went through two 30 packs and started on the last 18 pack so your on your own from here on out.
So once you've got everything bolted up except the hood hold downs (that you BROKE!) helper #2 decides that "those fenders need one more coat" while your using the restroom......So now you cant go anywhere for about another hour and a half cause the paint is wet.
So I put the Genright 3/4" LED's in to use as my park lights and wire em up.
They are ALOT BRIGHTER than I thought they'd be...
When I tried to close the hood the safety latch wasnt catching so I had to cut off part of the tab that sticks out on the top that faces front. Fits perfect now. I had to use a bungee cord to hold the hood down on the way home.
Finished product:
I'll get some better pics tomorrow.
Im going to try to install the Jk turn signal lenses in tomorrow too if the weather holds. Also going to try to get my incab winch control panel in too if I have time...
My old man was so wasted that I had to pretty much pic him up and stuff him in the back seat. You ever tried to pick up 5'7"s and 150+ pounds of dead drunk Jello????? It was interesting to say the least.
More to come.
