so, i fixed the gears, now running 4.88s and they flippin rock! i went to SMORR again last weekend to test everything out. made double whammy again, twice... also built a new tranny/oil pan skid

ill get pics up form the weekend later but heres another video of rattler...

and over spring break i built this jeep for a friend. 3link/4link with 7 in rear stretch and new rear frame

not much else is going to happen on the rig for a while, gettin ready to buy a tow rig and move to indiana for the summer for an internship but hopefully soon ill be able to get back to mods. but for a while its just gonna be wheelin pics!

tow rig! 95 cummins, 5 speed, 4wd, extended cab, long bed, level kit, 35s.

Got a new grill and a fuel cell is on the way!

And in other news... I'm selling my armor at the end of the summer, stretching it to 100 inches and dove tailing the rear.... in the mean time, I'm gonna do some wheelin!

on another note, ive been working on my fuel cell after wrok the last two days

started by drawing it out in AutoCAD, mainly to size the NOBS fab logo.

cut out the corner supports

cut the drawing out to make sure i liked the shape before i started cutting

so this was the fun part for me, ive got as much time in this next peice as i do the rest of the mount

used a center punch and outlined the letters

you can kinda see the marks lol

then filled it in with soap stone

and the out line of the plate

bring on the plasma!!!!

at this point it was missing something, and i wasnt sure what to do with the back mount either... sooooo i just started sketchin with the soap stone and this is what i what i came up with

took this concept and carried it into the other brackets, so heres the final peice. all TIG welded. gonna wait till i take my tank out and stuff to build the bottom. then itll all get rubber insulated between the shell and the floor

gettin ready for the badlands and UMC this weekend!

Fuel cell ring should be here today, so last night i pulled the gas tank and whil i was at it figured id do some other things.

with the gas tank out of the way i can finally put the UCF DIY diff cover on that i made like two yrs ago

Also, decided to flip my calipers to the front so one, theyre up out of the way of rocks, two the brake lines are on the top of the axle, and three, i can outboard my lower mounts further to get a little better shock geometry.

It was actually really easy. pull the diff cover, pull the rotor and calipers, take out the center pin. push the shaft in towards the center, knock the c-clips out, and pull the shafts. Theres 4 bolts that hold the backing plate on. I pulled the dust cover and all the ebrake hardware out of mine bc, well, it was the only remaining evidence of an ebrake on my jeep lol.

stock config

i guess i lost the pic, but the shock is so close to the caliper that id have to take the shock off to pull the caliper bolt far enough to remove the caliper.

so take the pass backing plate and pass caliper and bolt it to the driver side... yeah... its that simple...

so as you can see the lense on my phone had some grease on it so sorry bout that, i think i had less than 3 hrs from pulling the tank to pickin up tools, it was a really easy job and def one of thos, wtf didnt i think to do this sooner? hopefully more fuel cell stuff to come

9-23-2011

been a while since i updated, mainly bc the jeeps just been sitting lol. We went to flat nasty a labor day weekend and i exploded my front end on the second obstacle sat morning... so theres like two pics of the whole weekend... I broke both ball joints, another axle shaft at the splines which destroyed the carrier...

but I ordered 10 factory shafts and they showed up today so Im gonna put the jeep back together this weekend in preparation for our SMORR trip october 15th

I do have some video from the Flat Nasty trip

heres the new shafts, 475 shipped from northridge4x4, came fully assembled

also, for the TJ guys out there, ive started selling the belly up skid I designed, 97-02 with ax-15 for 275 plus shipping. Heres a pic of one i just finished for a guy locally. PM me if interested, i could probably work out something with later other models either as a DIY kit or if i could find a donor vehicle to build it off of...

Heres a pic of the one ive been running for 3 years, been beat to hell and back and still perfectly straight, we've built about a dozen of these over the years and have yet to bend one.

Just throwin this out there for those that follow

http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f153/...l-rig-1273048/

they are indeed ten factory chromos, still havnt installed em but they come fully assembled and ready to slide in lol...im waiting on a new ring gear from Nitro so i can put the front end back together

Im thinkin about selling so i can start from scratch and build a cj based buggy... i want less sheet metal, more up travel, more down travel, more width and bigger tires...

I know what its worth TO ME, and if someone comes along and feels the same, great, thats why its a feeler. If not, then ill go ape **** with the sawsall. but for now its too clean for me to just cut up. Id rather trade for a rig with bigger running gear and not so awesome body, or just sell and then buy a donor trail rig bc all i need a body for is to cut up and make "skins"... im not in any huge hurry either way... ive got more than enough side work on friends stuff to keep my fab itch busy...

for example...

heres how it came in friday night

and heres how it left this morning, full fast back cage, hi line boulder fenders tied into a grill hoop...

and this one rolls in this after noon... whats left of a 92 xj, getting full boat sides, bull nosed and cage...

at some point this winter its going to come back and get dove tailed, but we've got a trip in two weeks and ive got two other jeeps to build
