Well, my box was leaking at the airport this week. So I debated on replacing the seal for the input shaft but i found a YJ box already tapped for hydro assist. I plan to swap it out and fix my stock ones and sell.

I got to look on the bright side. I can take apart a steering box.

I bought a seal kit today from O'Reilly's today.

I also got my Swepco fluid today. Waiting on my pump.

And now I know why that steering box is locked up...

New made in USA power steering pump.

Something I didn't notice when I was putting the power steering pump together was the low pressure tube/nipple. It's pointing up instead of down. I have no intention of returning it but I need to get a hose that will work.

As for that steering box. I think I'm going to replace the input shaft seal and output shaft seal, adjust the small amount of slop with the nut on top and put it back in. Then rebuild the other when I get a ram.

After the steering is buttoned up I still need to relocate my shock mounts, get my front driveshaft shortened, and see if Tim's rear driveshaft will work. I also want to get an oil cooler but haven't bought it yet.

Found a formed hose that I made work.

Did not rotate. I put a big thumb wrench on it to try and rotate it. It started to bend and didn't feel right so I stopped. Finished product.

Replaced the input seal on my original steering box. I then took the sector shaft out to replace the seals there too...since I'm doing stuff anyway.

Picked up a JT Rubicon suspension for a decent price...

I took half a day off to work on the Jeep and it was a successful day.

Shock mounts cut off and new ones on. I got clever with mockup.

I also fixed the broken captured nut in the frame, as well as, that steering box but I have more to talk about with that.

The steering box is in now with new input and output seals. Once I started bleeding the system I kept feeling some hang up in the wheel. I haven’t done a real test with the tires on but I hope I didn’t do something wrong. I took off the ring and inter piece to replace the input seal but I made a punch mark for the location of the large nut on the end and the internal piece.
