Such a nice day today. I cleaned up the rusty parts from damage from rocks and trees on various wheeling trips. It didn't turn out too bad.

It was about 80 degrees today in Georgia. With that kind weather I can't just stay inside so I went to examine the jeep. I knew the pinion seal was leaking so I looked at it again and it looked considerably oily. Anyway I remember I had an extra pinion seal from my master install kits when I did the re-gear 3 years ago. I replaced the seal but I didn't want to put the yoke back in just yet because it looked worn and it had the tiny rough spots. It may help to sand it down but I don't know if I want to do that to a machined surface. I know I should replace it. What do y'all think about it?

I also bought some new hardware for the high-lift mounts. The old bolts were rusty and raggedy looking. I need to have the high-lift sand blasted and then paint it. It's looking raggedy too.

I wanted to get a few more things done to the jeep while the weather was good plus I was bored. So I decided to take my front diff guard off that I won in a raffle and my previous club because it had a slight leak and it blocked the fill plug which I didn't like...so I cut it off.

Here's some pics of how it was and how I cut it. I just need to slap some paint on it now. It should bash rocks just as well.

Painted. I just need to clean up the diff cover and the mating surfaces.

Thanks man. It was my daily driver for about 6 or 7 years. i drove it through high school and most of college. While I was in college it was starting to modify it and gas was hovering around $4/gal so I contacted one of my co-workers at a mechanic shop I worked at after high school. I got this '86 Civic from him for $200. I put about $100 into it and got it running.

It was a fun little car especially when you know it's a beater. I drove it for about two years when I finished out college and started a real job. Four months into my real job I decided to get a brand spanking new 2009 Civic because I was putting a lot of miles going to see my now fiance about 2 hours away every weekend. It started to give me more trouble than I wanted and I figured a professional job warranted a professional ride.

I like not having to worry about how I'm going to get to work now.
