HONDA CIVIC 2016+ ARMREST COVER INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
1. Flip the armrest up to open the center console.
2. Extend the armrest all the way and locate the two screws at the top. Remove those screws with a philips screwdriver.
3. Take the plastic pry bar and pry up on the armrest to release the clips that hold it in.
4. Go around the perimeter of the armrest and gently pry up to release the rest of the clips. It will peel off as you do this.
5. Attach the new cover on the armrest. It shuold be glued over the factory cover. More detailed instructions here. After you install the leather wrapping, place the armrest back on the plastic console lid and press it into place.
6. Reinstall the 2 screws and ensure there isn no gap around the outside edge.
7. The side parts of the center console require no special equipment or instructions -- just grab it with both hands and pull directly upward until it pops off. Install the new cover onto the pieces. The new cover needs to be glued.
There are several kinds of glue that can be used, 3M Rubber&Vinyl 80 is one of them. Set up a staging area because the adhesive sprays pretty well out of the can. Clean the console with a little soap and water to ensure that nothing interferes with the adhesive.
PRACTICE lining the leather up on the armrest. Decide where you are going to lay the leather on the console after the adhesive has been applied - once you have sprayed the glue and put the parts together, it's very tough to pull apart. The leather pattern is cut precisely. Spray the adhesive on the console and the back of the leather. Follow the directions on the can. Be careful that you don't get any on the front of the leather. Don't worry if it looks like the adhesive seeps through to the finished side of the leather. It does leave some marks on the good side while it's wet, but that goes completely away when this dries in about an hour. Installation is the reverse of removal.
Useful tip
You have installed a product made out of genuine leather. As you know, to maintain a leather product in good condition, you should take care of it. We suggest occasionally (every 4-6 week for example) applying some leather conditioner/UV protector to keep your leather from drying up in the sun and cracking.
