I had been putting this job off as I was a little afraid of finding out the answer! With the window seals in and before I think about the interior I had to pour water over the windows and into the doors to check for any leaks and that I have good drainage.
The seals seemed to work as they should and the window glass seals "draft excluders" let some water in which is normal but I have good drainage with no holding of water.
Once dried out I brushed cavity wax all over it for belts and braces I got sealed the doors with plastic via broady
This meant I could get all this stuff out from the loft
One of my favourite parts of the Cortina's interior is the centre console, it's a good looking thing but mine has been in storage in various lofts over the years and isn't looking great fir it!
Once stripped down I wasn't expecting to find rust but it was quickly kicked off.
With some new vinyl ordered I sanded the aluminium trim from 120 all the way through to 1500 before polishing and it has come up much better than I was expecting - I just need to crack on and get the interior in now!

Great work mate! Loved the taillights and fins on these cortinas. Remind me of the old type 34 VWs.

Thank you Steve I appreciate the support, it feels like a lifetime since I did a lot of the work! Hopefully I'll be back on the road early next year so I can finally put some miles on her.
