Thanks Pete:) that's interesting about the Corsair, I always found it odd that it's the opposite way on the Cortina

That was it in 2006 when it was road legal, you can just make out the seal. I have some more of the seal before I removed it but can't seem to find it on my phone.

That would be a huge help,

I have 3 of these

and 2 of these which I believe were on the GT as standard

I'd prefer a full set of the GT style ones but I'd be happy with either, they fit over the discs and drums which is the main thing.

I have spent the last few days clearing the cortina out as she has gone to have the door painted and gapped properly, as door fitment was being worked on I have also asked for the seals to be fitted - it seems to make sense doing it in 1 go.

Whilst putting the Cortina back together I have chipped the paint in a few areas which are also being fixed whilst the door is in paint

All the clearing out has left me with this...

Believe it or not there is a lathe under all that rammel

It's a Myford M type that were originally made by Drummond but then Myford took over the production of them during the 2nd world war, this one is dated 1947 if I recall, the belt drive on the back was removed by me to get a bit of extra room when spraying the car but I'm going to get it running again and see if I have enough room to keep it.

I'd like a lathe, I don't know a great deal about using them but have plenty of things I want to make with one.

It feels like it's been a while since I updated this but things had slowed when the Cortina went off to get the door finished.

I'm glad that the Cortina was out of the garage as the mess I had made over the last 12 months had become an annoyance plus I had become sloppy with the painting in there - the Cortina was protected but the walls weren't so they had started to turn black in areas, I know this garage is an old sectional with an asbestos roof that quite honestly needs to come down and replaced but whilst I don't have the funds or space to build what I want I might as well make it a nicer place to be.

Now was the perfect opportunity to get my Myford working again, this had the rear belt set removed and pushed in the corner when I was starting to do body work but after a clean and a new belt it's looking much better, I might start a thread on this in other projects. I just need to learn how to use it.

With all the room for activities I made a start on cleaning and polishing the trim - I can already tell I'll lose the will to live fitting the guttering trim!

The grill was repainted black which is more of a lotus thing but I think it makes the front end look tidier and less like a rappers dentures although I don't have a photo of it finished - I'll sort that out later...

I had been looking at what to do with my GT shields, they were looking tired and had suffered water ingress so lost their colour. they're too tight to CNC without forking out huge amounts and 3D printing in plastic wouldn't give the right result. Fortunately someone was selling a pair of stick on inserts that look great when they're fitted, I have kept the originals as I think I could make a mould and resin cast replacements and knowing how easy they are to remove the inserts I could have a bit of fun with these in the future...

In just under 2 weeks the Cortina was ready to return with better panel gaps than I'll ever get, all 4 doors painted and with seals fitted - again seals are not my forte!

Excuse the greenhouse heaters - it was a wet ride home and I wanted to be sure I hadn't missed anything when drying the Cortina out in the garage. I'm waiting on a new clip for the headliner and parts for the handbrake so I'm going to go back and figure out why I'm struggling to get it running.
