Thursday, Sept 24. Day 2. First day of track time, all practice time, with a total of the 3 sessions. The car is still not quite sorted. As my first session started so did the rain. Racecar was wearing the old set of Goodyears, as I wanted to save my Michelins for competition days. The car was literally not turning right. Steering input was hard to turn right, the car pushed, and there was a loud noise. Turning left the car tended to over rotate but steering feel was easy and no noise. After the session, Kyle got the car in the air and checked over every bolt and found no issues. Second session the track was quite wet. I only made 2 laps before deciding to get off track. The car was performing much worse with the same issues and I did not feel safe. I was not the only who left the session early, many driver's were having a hard time finding grip. In the paddock, kyle got the car back in the air and we swapped the tires to my Michelin Sport Cup 2 Connects and set the front sway bar to the loosest setting, and checked over the car once again. Third session, in the dry, the car handled much better. Steering input was easy both directs and the car was turning, however there was still a very loud noise turning right. The noise gets louder after high speeds and louder the tighter the turn. My plan is to continue to drive the car and enjoy the track time. I dont have any delusions of scoring well this weekend, but I will be getting a lot of seat time, get to learn an awesome track, and get to practice managing traffic. We will continue to check over the car after each session and hope nothing gets worse or breaks.
Nice to see someone pushing these cars to their limits.
