Thank you to Michelin for sponsoring Ryan Cheek Racing for the Chasing the Dragon Hillclimb!
Michelin makes the best tires on Earth. I state this clearly and as fact. Not only have I spent a lot of time pushing the limits of various Michelin street tires, I've had the pleasure of learning and watching how Michelin tires are developed and manufactured when I attended their Women in Drive Experience. From the classroom, to the manufacturing facility, to my own experiences with Michelin tires, I am beyond excited to have Sport Cup 2 Track Connects on my Racecar for this event.
If I may, allow me to geek out on you for a minute! Michelin's Sport Cup 2 tire is an Extreme Performance Summer tire. It is molded using Michelin's bi-compound technology in an asymmetrical design. Meaning the outside edges and inside edges area are different in rubber compound and pattern. The large outer edge features a specific rubber and pattern specially designed to deliver maximum grip on curves. The inside features a different pattern and the rubber is a more rigid elastomer to provide more precision steering. BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. These tires are specifically designed to provide optimal contact patch area during cornering, meaning more rubber touches the road when cornering, which ultimately provides superior grip in turns and tight corners. There are a few other subtle technological features designed into the tire, like it's internal structure that utilizes Michelin's Wavy Summit Architecture with specific structured composition of steel belts, hybrid aramid and nylon. The bead is strengthened, as well, to increase lateral stiffness to deliver quick input response and precision steering.
These tires are engineered to accept Michelin's latest Track Connect Technology. From a sensor mounted inside the tire, information is transmitted in real-time via bluetooth to your smartphone. The system has been developed for specific tracks and is like having your own personal Michelin Engineer to offer setting recommendations to get optimal performance from your tires every lap. This system will also simply provide real time tire pressures, for when you're not on track, if your car isn't equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.
The Sport Cup 2 Track Connects look and feel luxurious with Michelin's Premium Touch Technology, but that's just an added bonus to these smart grippy tires!
I could not be more excited to race on these Michelin Sport Cup 2 Track Connects. They will provide superior handling and ultimate performance for my very first hill climb race! Thank you, Michelin!!
Nice to see someone pushing these cars to their limits.
