Well i've been on a parts ordering spree and will soon have almost everything i'll need. Does anybody know of a place that sells TFS timing chains for $26-$30 ea. that doesn't charge a handeling fee of some kind or $17 for simple ground shipping? 1) Will my stock fuel pump work with the set-up i'm working on or do I NEED a SVTfocus or the like? 2) Is there a difference between the 96-98GT alternator and the 99-04 the way they mount to the bracket? When swaping to a PI intake and the "C" shaped bracket do you have to use a different alt.? I'm asking cause I could use a new one and was wondering if there was a difference. Thanks

Got my Mac LT's today and they're dented in, both of the balls at the end of the collectors are flat in places. Are the ceramic coatings shiny or dull? I thought I read somewhere that Mac's are "dipped" (coated inside and out) these ar not only the out side has a finish. These seem to have more shine than I thought they would have, kind of like a "nickle" look.

Well, I based my build on a well known build thats been done several times called the "Recession Buster" by Nick at Modular head shop (it's on his website) and he assured me that the Mark pan works, even with long tubes. Why do you say it doesn't? By the way the shortblock is (Re)-done now. Got my radiator today to. Gettin closer my MHS stage III's should ship out sometime next week. Can't wait!

I was looking at some pics yesterday and I could see where it might be difficult/not fit when droping the engine in from the top and started to wonder if you (nick) might have dropped the K-member to put the engine w/ mark pan, that looks like it might work? Unfortunately I will be going from the top, and could've gotten a cobra pan but just spent $ to have the mark pan welded. I also was reading somewhere that the Mark pan is a 6qt pan, just like the GT/cobra pans but it was a thread on a forum so it's not been confirmed yet. Also just realized that the Canton RR pan has the "hump" on the drivers side and the Mark is on the Pass side, ? if that matters.
I found another thread where the guy says he had to trim a 3/4" strip about 4" long from the "inside lip of the K-member". Here's the thread, checkout what this guy did for an "cold air intake" setup, CRAZY.

Well the Cobra pan has a few "scrapers" to get oil off the front of the crank and a bit of a baffle where the GT has nothing at all. Thing is, the cobra oil pickup tube (4v) is 1" to 1 1/2" longer/deeper into the pan than the early Mark pickup tube (2V) is so if I used a Cobra pan I would have to use my early Mark pickup tube (2v) since i'm using a 2v oil pump and it would be about 1" or more farther away from the bottom of the pan than the 1/4" that the cobra pickup is supposed to/would be. Hopefully Nick can check this out and comment.
Actually now that I thought about it for a few I think i'll just use my GT pan and pickup for now and when I get the K-member/LAC's and coilover kit (2-3 months) I'll swap the pan and pickup out for the Mark one.
Nice build!
