Guess who's got an update!!!
Thanks for the nice comments guys, and fair play to Dave for staying up so late!!!
I've neglected the shell for a while now as I had got pretty bored of the welder so I started on the engine
Figured I would use the 998 as its got a brand new short block, through the new box onto it and started to clean and paint everything
I'm going with a Matt black engine, silver 'box and transepfer case with some black anodised DSN goodies.
Here's a quick one of the engine as it stands
As you can see I have started to lap the clutch/flywheel onto the crank tail and began building up the clutch end of the engine. The waterpump end is done however I'm going to swap the timing cover for a dsn alloy one soon.
Then I attacked the transfer case and attempted to replace both the idler and input bearings, WHAT A PAIN!
Here's my DIY blind puller!
Shame it didn't work for the input bearing, may have to get mini speed to sort that one for me
Knocked the new idler bearing in however so once I clean up the muck left on the casing I can sort out the idler thrusts and finally bolt together the flywheel housing!
I case nobody guessed, the 998 will be turboed! How many times does that get said in engine threads!!! I've got hold of a good condition 12g295 head and I already have a metro challenge carb so once I get hold of a new turbo I can make the manifold and have it finished!
Thanks to anybody still watching, I know progress is slow!

Thanks for the comments snookles and Hugh!
Hugh I think a meet between yourself, graham, Carlos and myself should be organised once we are all finished!
On a progressive note, I have made up a few roll cage feet/boxes for the front footwells. Will be making some for the rear arches and also the b pillars tomorrow, then hopefully the cage can be welded in soon!
Got a decent pay rise last week so some more progress should be on the cards soon!!!

Hello all!
There's been a bit of progress lately, I have moved the shell over the road into a garage/shed so more work can get done without having to worry about weather etc!
A new alloy boot floor has been made to help with the lightweight theme! (Aiming for under 550kg)
Fuel pump and filter will sit in front of the fuel tank in the floor to keep things tidy
Also bought some carbon fiber a panels from Steve over on turbominis
Not bad for 130grams!!!
And fitted a new vernier duplex timing kit and a good used N/A metro camshaft (it is fitted with a tensioner now)

Hello all!
Little bit more progress this weekend, fixed some previous owners bodge on the sills and fitted the box feet for my roll cage
Welded on some strengthening plates for engine steadies
Removed the rear parcel shelf ready for my ally bulkhead and parcel shelf
Also drilled and painted some engine bits

Started on the new rear bulkhead last night.
Welded some tube across the stiffeners to help strengthen the area.
Then started the long task of making a decent pattern, hoping to get hold of some 2mm card soon rather than the cardboard to make it a little easier.
Just need to make the side patterns and then it's almost complete
Quickly made some marking of where the beads/swages will run
Hoping to make a removable panel, much the same as a standard bulkhead.
I've also just bought a bead roller from eBay so ican roll the swages/beads myself and hopefully make it very professional looking. But I need to modify the roller first so that it is motorised on a pedal rather than a crank handle
Keep your eyes peeled, the bulkhead should be nearly finished in a few days
More work done on the pattern today, pretty much finished the rough template. Just waiting on some decent card now for the final template before I make it all in ally
Started on the seat rails tonight, these will be stitch welded to the floor as to act as a new crossmember
More to come tomorrow night
Nice build!
