Was down at the workshop this afty...and the block is bored, the cam bearings are in, the pistons are fitted onto the rods and the gearbox case has been properly cleaned...But the gudgeon pins are a bit tight so they need to be refitted, after a little adjustment they should be fine. the gearbox case still needs a quick skim on the idler face.. Should get it all back on friday...Woo Hoo..cant wait to start building engines and gearboxes again...I love it.

Yes I was very vigerous....and then I just took the grinder out..lol..
So after a couple of hours flange rubbing I got one to look like this..
A bit of paint on the exposed parts and it now looks like this..
And then Out of the van came this...Woo Hoo!!
And due to the need for power....RED!!
Tomorrow ill do the other flange and paint the other side of the block...Then its time to start the build...

Pistons...shiny pistons...
What do you think..Silver head on a red block?
Hope I can remember where all these bits go..
It was £250..Rebore to 73.5mm new cam bearings pressed in, Pistons fitted to rods which were end over end balanced. Head skimed 20 thou. gearbox case has been cleaned and skimed at the transfer gear face. And new idler bearing has been fitted..I think thats the lot.
I could have got it done a tad cheeper but would have had postage costs...The workshop I use are local to me and they have done work for me before...I trust them, which counts for a lot.

Ive started the engine build and its coming along quite well. the crank and pistons are all fitted and it turns nice and smooth..end float on the crank is only 0.00197" and thats a bit tight. but the thrusts were brand new and 0.002"- 0.004" is recomended...Its not that far off so im going to leave it. If the crank was tight to turn then I would have been more concerned, but I can turn it easily with two fingers...
0.05mm...or 0.00197" in old money.
All in and torqued down.
Pistons all fitted..
Nice details!
