I've added another 3 10 ohm resistors and now it reads 1 bar from full no matter what position the arm on the sender is????

Do the resistors need to go on in any particular way? Is it possible to have them on the wrong way round?

I'm glad you understand bo because I don't understand how it's worked out at 170 at all, I'm pretty cluesless with componenets, but I do inderstand what I need to do now, make 170 either in one resistor or by putting numerous resistors, with a total value of 170 in series and then put that 170 across (parrallel to) the terminals.

Any one got a spare 170ohms resistor? because with the ones I've got (100, 40 and 3x10s) I'll end up with 5 in a row!!!
and that'll look poo.

If you were wondering why I hadn't done anything lately it's because I was building the 1380 up ready for sale.
It looks good I think you'll agree.

the head was stripped and my friend stuck it in the cleaning tank at his work. It was painted with the same as the engine and re-built. I'm really proud of it it looks brand new!

Everything is torqued up and tappet clearances set
