What a weekend,I HAVE dsm/evo shootout Fever !!!!!

The blue evo 9 clutch job was completed on saturday, a brake line broke on it too , so that had to be repalced. only thing left on that car for the shootout is a quick tune and a detail --- Done

The awd Colt: replaced all the wheels and tires with a lighter combination about 6 pounds per corner. The new fuel pumps are in route so scheduling wise should be completed by tomorrow

The black evo: I have been driving it ... has a solid 200+ miles on it. I still have the misfire only at idle, everywhere else it is perfect. I Had the epiphany last night that maybe one of my coolant temp sensors was backwards. After reading the circuit diagram, they definitely were. So I am praying that this resolves my misfire issue tonight. If it does... It is game On

The shootout is finally over and it gave me the full spectrum of emotion when it comes to racing in general.

Lets talk about the good news first, my awd colt came to do some work at the shootout, we drove it down from michigan , beat the crap out of it at the track and then drove her back home. It ended up shattering its best et from a few weeks ago by almost 0.5 secs.. for a best of 11.89@ 119.5 which was piloted by jeremy. Of course there is always a little more in it, but we are very happy with the car. It is a simple 18g , stock 2.0 with old school HKS cams running E85.

Now for the evo, I made my first light pass , no 2step as the car has been plagued with an electrical gremlin that makes it run on only 2 cylinders .. With a 2.2 sixty foot, it ran 11.6s @ 134, picking up 38 mph on the big end. After I checked the logs, things seemed to be in order, So I figured I would make another hit before I went into qualifying on saturday night at 7:00 pm. Now this time I wanted to give it the beans, so I wanted to leave with the 2step , however the car sounded odd like it was not interrupting the ignition to give me my 2 step.. so I bogged the launch, decided to say **** it and launch again, even though I had crossed the beams.. Again the car gained 39mph from the 1/8th on, but now the car was running terribly when I pulled into the pits. ( running on 2 cylinders)

I checked everything that I Could, even had a spare ecu brought in from home, but sunday, I could hear a faint ticking sound ( figured it was a dead lifter), but it was not. Upon inspection of my filter, I saw bearing material . ( this was at 10:00am on sunday). Drove that ***** back on the trailer strapt her up and went to help the rest of the folks in my team.

So a rather poor shootout for me in regards to running my car. I Have no idea, why this car keeps eating bearings. my clearances are within spec everytime, where beating the **** out of it on the street, everything is good, yet when I bring it to the track it starts eating bearings for breakfast.

I think I am calling it quits . its been almost 13 years of me racing the 4g63 platform, and I can definitely tell when I see a bad set of cards.. This car is proving to be just that.
